The View of the Ice from 4 foot – The IP News Version Jason Osbahr There were a lot of great Spring and Summer Skating Sessions in the IP program and now they have all come to an end. It is time for a quick break…..…Ok that’s enough of a break and now it’s back to the grindstone!! Our Fall Season is quickly approaching and there are some important dates that we need to make sure we all have on our calendar for September and October: 

  

 

Equipment Rental Return o Sept 14th from 7pm – 9pm at Moylan o Sept 15th from 9am – 2pm at Moylan o Please note that all IP Rental gear needs to be turned in by these dates if your skater will not be in IP Fall Session. o If your skater will be renting equipment again for the Fall IP session, a $20 rental fee will need to be collected at this time to continue the IP Equipment Rental. September 14th from 7pm - 9pm at Moylan you can drop off any used gear you would like to sell on the OHC Hockey Swap Saturday the 15th from 9am – 1pm. September 15th from 9am – 1pm at Moylan is the OHC hockey equipment swap. This is a great chance to pick up some great used gear. September 15th from 10am – 12:15pm at Moylan is IP Bring a Friend to Try Hockey for Free Day!!!!! o All IP players from the Fall, Spring and Summer session are invited to bring a friend(s) to try hockey for free. o The IP player with the most friends in attendance will receive a $50 gift card to Sticks and Kicks!! o Please look for the flyer to be emailed out to you the 1st week in September. September 15th from 12:15pm – 1:15pm at Moylan is our LAST GRADING opportunity for those IP skaters who have not been graded in the Fall, Spring or Summer Sessions. This is mandatory for any player moving out of IP. This would be a great time to bring your friends to watch you show your hockey skills off! October 7th will start our first IP sessions at Motto o Due to the ice not being available until the 3rd week in October at the new Ralston rink, OHC has had to reschedule a lot of ice times for everyone temporarily. Everyone one in OHC is affected by this rescheduling. IP will lose their weekday practice schedules the first two weeks of October. o IP will skate on their scheduled Sundays at Motto for the first two weeks. All new IP skaters are to attend the first white session for review of skating skills and placement into the proper IP program. Existing IP players will be notified the first week in September of their placement in IP. Information will also be available on the website under the IP section.   

IP White will skate from 12:30pm – 1:15pm IP Grey will skate from 1:15pm – 2:00pm IP Orange will skate from 2:00 – 2:45 pm

HOUSE LEAGUE PLAYER MOVE UP FORM Players petitioning to move up must do the following: a)

Register for the current season’s age classification as determined by USA Hockey. Player move up requests will only be honored from u8 and above.

b)

Attend both grading sessions - the one that they want to move to and their appropriate age grading.

c)

The player will need to meet the following grading criterion: 1) 2)

d)

You must be in the top 20% of the second year players in your age classification. After meeting number one you must then be in the top 20% of the age classification that you are petitioning to move to.

Submit the request to move up prior to house grading; otherwise the player / family will need to wait for the next season before applying to move up.

Print Name of Participant: _________________________________ I hereby acknowledge that I have petitioned, in writing, the Directors of the Omaha Hockey Club to permit my child to participate at an age level that is one year in age (player must be in their final year of the current age classification to be eligible to petition for player movement) above USA Hockey’s recommended guidelines. The OHC Board of Directors does not condone player movement and suggests that all families have their players participate in their normal age classification, but we do understand that from time to time movement to a higher division should be considered. In consideration of being permitted to move up in age classification, I understand and appreciate that the risk of injury may be increased significantly and that the risk of injury from hockey, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death, and while particular rules and discipline may reduce the risk, the risk of serious injury does exist. By my child’s participating, I KNOWINGLY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown. Further, I agree to indemnify and hold the Omaha Hockey Club, its officers, and USA Hockey, Inc., harmless from any and all liability, loss, expense, attorney’s fees, or claims for injury or damages to the fullest extent permitted by law caused as a result of my request. For players moving from Mite to Squirt only – I understand that the registration fee for Squirts is $200 higher than the registration fee for Mites. If my child is approved to move up to the Squirt level, I understand that it is my responsibility to make arrangements with OHC’s Assistant Treasurer, Kathy Baranko, to pay this additional $200 fee as OHC is unable to adjust the payment plan that I established online when I first registered my player as a Mite. All fees, including the additional $200 fee to move up to Squirts, must be paid in full by December 15, 2012. I understand that the decision of the Omaha Hockey Club to move my child to the next higher age group is preliminary and that the Omaha Hockey Club Directors and/or USA Hockey reserves the right to reverse its decision if it is felt that my child is not capable of participating at the higher age level when his/her performance is observed in actual game situations by the coaches and the age specific program director. Signature(s) I understand and agree to respect all these conditions of participation in USA Hockey programs.
