About the Speakers

Cathal Melia Audit & Business Advisory Partner, Russell Brennan Keane Cathal specialises in audit and assurance services for large corporate entities including entities with international operations. Advising on statutory audit, technical accounting and corporate structuring, Cathal has significant experience of FRS 102 and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). He also provides technical litigation support. Cathal joined RBK from EY in 2002 and was appointed a Partner in 2013. In addition to his corporate work, he is the external auditor of several Credit Unions.

Dr. Loretta O’Sullivan Group Chief Economist, Bank of Ireland Dr. Loretta O’Sullivan was appointed Group Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland in March 2014. Loretta joined the Group from the Central Bank of Ireland, where she held the position of Senior Economist within the Monetary Policy & International Relations Division. Prior to that, she was a Senior Economist at the Department of Finance, during which time, she was seconded for two years to the European Commission’s Economic and Financial Affairs Directorate in Brussels. She holds a Ph.D in Economics from Trinity College, Dublin. As Group Chief Economist, Loretta heads up the Group’s Economic Research Unit and is responsible for the preparation of economic data, including economic publications for customers and various Group stakeholders.

Chris Ball Corporate Finance Partner, Russell Brennan Keane Recently appointed Partner to lead out the corporate finance activities of the firm, Chris has advised a wide range of clients on their business plans and funding through start up, growth and exit phases. Having experience of the difficulties of business survival in recent years, Chris has assisted clients and external stakeholders in devising restructuring, refinancing and shareholder exit strategies to provide for stability and growth. Chris has knowledge across a broad range of industry sectors, and has recently completed a number of sizeable sales transactions, fundraisings and refinancing.

Fiona Murphy Taxation Director, Russell Brennan Keane Fiona specialises in corporate taxation and corporate restructuring and advises a broad portfolio of corporate and personal clients. She has a particular interest in international tax and provides Irish tax advice for many international businesses. With many years’ experience advising on large scale VAT transactions and due diligence, Fiona is a regular speaker at RBK client events and provides budgetary analysis at our annual Budget Briefing.
