A publication by the residents of our Riverwood campus Volume 2 Issue 1 - October 2011 Recently, the residents of Riverwood were blessed by several family groups who took them on some special trips. One trip was to Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg, one was to the Knoxville zoo, and the other was to a state park in Kentucky. They also had fun making crafts. The following are their comments on their trips when asked what was their favorite activities of the summer. Carol: The zoo - seeing different animals, even kookabeara; going to the aquarium and having a nice time at Cumberland Park…. Me getting a hole-in-one which I wasn’t expecting. Christy: The white-faced pandas and the big turtles; eating watermelon.
Riverwood Residents with friends from Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, who took them to the zoo.
Glenna: Lions! [I] don’t want to see snake. That snake is awful!! Don: The Ape part, when the ape scare me and jumped at the window when the fat woman took a picture. My stomach got into my mouth and I almost got a heart attack. I liked when we made the crosses and I loved the park.
Even the younger members of the group blessed the Riverwood residents by presenting a skit on Sunday morning.
Paula: Going to the park and meeting some friends I’d never met before. Going to the zoo and seeing animals, like elephants, camels, and monkeys, and being with other new friends. The Rhino at the zoo.
Frank: Getting up to “no man’s land” (Kentucky) and hike. Kim: Playing Putt-Putt in Kentucky, ‘cause I won four times! I enjoyed being with all the fishes there at the aquarium. I had a good time. Tom W: I liked painting stepping stones. Kathleen (who answers with hand motions), said “yes!” she enjoyed her summer.

Stacy: The ocean at Kentucky, the boats. I went hiking. The people were nice. Tom K: Ummm, going to the aquarium. I saw the green turtles. That’s what I like the most! Picking up Jr. and Scott and coming home. Turtles at the zoo.
Besides entertaining the Riverwood residents with field trips, we were blessed by their hard work in painting several rooms at Riverwood I.
