Principal’s Message
Winter Wellness Jam Since our Fall Friday was such a big success, we are going to have a Friday in January dedicated to health and wellness. The event will take place on Friday, January 22 throughout the day. We will send tickets home like previous events letting you know what is available for you to attend. We will have vendors from all over Grant County to share information with our students. Students will have an opportunity to participate in a Zumba, Yoga, and try different varieties of fruits and vegetables. We would love to invite you and help support SES with being healthy and fit. More details to come soon.
Math Proficiency At SES we consider math to be a priority for student academic success. Our teachers and staff collaborate on a weekly basis to ensure students are receiving the best possible math instruction daily. In order to meet the needs of all students, teachers meet monthly in RTI meetings to discuss students who are not progressing and plan interventions for those struggling students. Students who need extra support are monitored by their classroom teacher and then given extra support in small math groups. At the end of the Fall Semester, students were given an online common assessment throughout the district to better inform teachers on how to plan for upcoming lessons and to provide support for those students who did not master the standard. We will continue to help all students become proficient in both math and literacy.
Hour of Code In December, our students participated in the Hour of Code event along with over 198,000 other locations around the world in exposing our students to some basic concepts of computer coding. Each student at SES had the opportunity to participate in the event while at the library. Ask your child what he or she learned while coding. You will be amazed.
