Her parents were Alfred and Julia Kerr. She had a brother called Michael.
She was born in Germany. She moved to England when she was 10 years old.
Judith’s family were Jewish. They left Germany before the Second World War because of the Nazis.
Judith Kerr married Nigel Kneale in 1954. They had two children, Matthew and Tacy.
She started writing and drawing books when her children were learning to read. They said their books were boring.
Her most famous book is The Tiger Who Came to Tea. She wrote it almost 50 years ago.
Also she wrote the Mog series of books. The people and the house are based on her own family. Mog was her own cat. She always wanted a cat as a little girl, but couldn’t have one.
In 2012 the Queen awarded Judith Kerr an OBE for being such a fantastic author.
Judith Kerr is 93 years old now, and still lives in London.
