Final Examination Period One Week Prior to Finals: 12/9 – 12/15 Finals Week: 12/16 - 12/20 In-Season • Final examination period • Daily and weekly hour limitations do apply to all preparatory periods leading up to the exams • Daily and weekly hour limitations apply during exam periods Out-of-Season • No countable activity • Voluntary activity permissible as long as: • Activity is initiated by student-athlete • No coaches are present other than those permitted by the safety exception: Rowing, Track & Field, Swimming & Diving • No sport-specific staff members present (i.e., Director of Operations) • No information is reported back to coaching staff • No sport-specific instruction is provided • Last permissible date for countable activity: 12/8

Holiday gifts may not be provided to student-athletes • Only athletics related gear done through the equipment room is permissible Coaches/anyone on staff may not participate in Secret Santa with student-athletes • Gift would be considered an extra benefit Contact compliance if your staff would like to provide an occasional meal KU Men’s Basketball game at Sprint Center in Kansas City on 12/14/13 • May provide prospects with complimentary admissions during unofficial visits only • Any in-person contact with the prospect must be counted as an off-campus contact Rock Chalk Rules Page 1

December 2013 Kansas Athletics Compliance Institutional Vacation Period Reminder Winter Break: Saturday, December 21st – Monday, January 20th In-Season • Hourly and weekly limitations do not apply to countable athletically related activity • No activity between midnight and 5am Out-of-Season • No countable activity • Voluntary activity permissible as long as: • Activity is initiated by student-athlete • No coaches are present other than those permitted by the safety exception: Rowing, Track & Field, Swimming & Diving • No sport-specific staff members present (i.e., Director of Operations) • No information is reported back to coaching staff • No sport-specific instruction is provided

Gambling Reminder KAI staff members and student-athletes are not permitted to wager anything of value on any NCAA sponsored sport at any level (amateur, professional, Olympic Games, etc.).

Compliance MVP Candace Dunback (Director of Traditions) Candace has continually ensured the eligibility of current and prospective student-athletes by checking with the Compliance Office regarding booster communication.
