The Vendor’s View When we were first looking, we went round various estate agents with our list of what we wanted from a house; within walking distance from the town centre, a south facing garden, at least two bedrooms and off-road parking, preferably a garage. We were told that this kind of property just didn’t exist in Canterbury. And then we came across this house. It fitted every requirement and as soon as we walked in we knew it was the right place for us. This property has not only a garage for the car, but also an additional storage room, which is large enough to house a freezer, tumble dryer, refuse bins and bicycles! There are also two parking spaces for visitors, and the pretty walled garden faces south-west. This house is in a little tucked away mews that most people don’t know exists, so it’s very quiet, and yet the town centre, the theatre and the station are all 5 minutes walk away, and the house has two bedrooms. We got everything we wanted! We have reconfigured the layout a bit, and created a semi-open plan kitchen/living area, which is very spacious, but we have kept the original doors in case a future owner wanted to separate them again. We use the conservatory as a dining room, which is a lovely place to eat all year round. There is now a 3rd bedroom/study on the ground floor, which used to be the kitchen. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, so when we refurbished the house, we changed the master en-suite into a wet room, which is probably our favourite room! The location is just ideal, and we will really miss being so close to all the amenities, especially the fantastic hairdresser just down the road. This house is an absolute gem. We are now relocating to fulfil a lifelong dream of living by the sea, but we will move with a certain degree of reluctance as we have been so happy here.
