Kingshill Church School 24 April 2015 Dear Parents/Carers Well done to our wonderful team of dancers who performed amazingly at the North Somerset Dance Festival at Weston Playhouse this week. The girls, ranging from year 2 to year 6, performed two fantastic dances and were a credit to the school. Thanks go to Miss Partridge and Miss Pennell who organised this experience for our children and thank you to parents who helped.

Emerald Class were the first class to go to Tesco yesterday to experience a ‘Farm to Fork’ workshop, the children had great fun and tried lots of different foods. Over the next few weeks each class will have the opportunity of participating in this interesting and fun workshop. This week has been a very special one indeed as it has been our ‘Values Week’. Thank you to all who came and shared in our special service where we presented our lovely school banners. The children worked in their community groups over three afternoons to think about, design and produce brightly coloured banners to represent the values of Friendship, Fellowship, Trust, Compassion, Forgiveness, Service, Thankfulness, Peace, Hope, Endurance, Humility, Creation, Reverence, Wisdom and Justice. The finished banners will be displayed all around the school hall and will be used regularly as the values form a basis for our collective worship in school.

Congratulations to our Learners of the week this week, Max, Oliver, Sammy and Oscar.

The next committee meeting will be on Wednesday 29 April at the Moor End Spout pub from 7 30 pm. We have been asked if we can alter times and dates of meetings. This has been discussed and has been taken into consideration. Unfortunately as a committee we have work and personal commitments which mean that available evenings are difficult and daytime meetings impossible. As you can appreciate to have a committee meeting, the majority of committee members need to be present! We will try to vary days as much as possible. We are doing REALLY well with our Sainsbury's vouchers collection and it is coming to an end on 5 May. PLEASE keep collecting!! Our Pond Project will be one of the charities in the Waitrose green token boxes from May 1st. If you do any shopping there, or know people who do, PLEASE put you green tokens in for us!!! We will get a percentage of £1000, depending on the number of tokens we have in our box, at the end of May. This money will go towards our pond renovation. Don't forget our Summer Fun Day is on June 13th, we do need some volunteers to help with stalls and odd jobs!! If you can give some time either in the run up with prepping stalls or on the day with running one we would REALLY appreciate it. Either find us on the playground, or contact us on email: [email protected], On facebook: Kingshill KFA or on twitter:@kingshillkfa.

Our outside classroom area is now finished and has already been used by several classes, we are looking forward to the forthcoming weeks where we can fully utilise the equipment during the warm weather.

Thank you to everyone who donated plants to the school last week the Gardening Club have been busy planting them around the school grounds and it will soon be looking gorgeous filled with bushes and flowers.

Forthcoming Dates 11.05.15 - SATs week for Year 6s 22.05.15 - INSET Day

E-Safety Reminder E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Kingshill Church School. Any e-Safety incidents are recorded and managed in accordance with our e-Safety Policy. E-Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with you to ensure the e-Safety message is consistent. Your help is needed to talk to your children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online. May I draw your attention to the guidance/advice which is on our website.

We value parental support. Please let us know by e-mail, calling into the office or catch us in the playground if you have any comments to make.
