Kingshill Church School Friday 18 September 2015 Dear Parents/Carers A fantastic week! I have been so impressed by the calm, productive start to this term. The children have knuckled down already to some fantastic learning and behaviour is, as always, excellent. This week our year 5 and 6 were visited by representatives from Childline, preparing them for a workshop next week. The children responded very well with some excellent thoughts and questions.
Yesterday we had our first Coffee@Kingshill! Thank you to the parents who came and also to Mrs Pender and the ladies from Christ Church who helped set up and run the session. Please feel free to join us for these sessions - you can stay until 9 30 am or just have a quick cuppa and go! Toddlers and babies welcome. I would especially encourage new parents to come along and get to know the Kingshill Family!
Years 5 and 6 went to Churchill yesterday for their overnight camp. They slept in tented dormitories and enjoyed tobogganing and frisbee golf! I popped up to see them and they were having a fantastic time!! Photos next week. As you may know, the Nailsea - Uganda Water Project is coming to an end this year, this has been a three year project which aimed to raise £90,000 to support the vulnerable and needy people in South West Uganda; saving and transforming lives and empowering communities to help themselves. On Saturday 19 September there will be a celebration at the Farmer’s Market in Somerset Square, 9 am to 1 pm. There will be a Massive Celebration Photograph too. If you wish to take part then wear something blue! Kingshill has been given five small water bottles to fill with coins. If you can spare any change over the next couple of weeks then please send it in with your child so that each class can fill their empty bottles. Thank you. We have now officially received our Bronze PE Award logo (it’s on the website). Well done to Miss Partridge for leading on this. We will be formally presented with our award in October.

Rev It Up! Every language in the world has a way of saying ‘thank you’ which indicates how important these two words are. “Spasibo” in Russian, “Diolch” in Welsh, “Tanan” in Estonian, “Foole Tunk” in Frisian, “Vinf” in Persian are some examples of “thank you” in other languages. It’s important to use the words “thank you” as often as possible when someone helps and supports us in some way, maybe in an act of kindness. The more we are thankful, the closer we get to becoming the people God wants us to be. Perhaps the biggest “thank you” goes to God for the gift of this precious and wonderful son, Jesus. Back to school!! We hope you all had a wonderful summer and are now settling back in to the school routine! Things with the KFA have been rather quiet over the summer. As some of you might be aware we were planning on trying to get some work done on our pond refurbishment project. Unfortunately due to the weather we have been unable to get much done. The plans are still to give it a good overhaul and when we have some dates in mind we will be begging for help/volunteers!! We are once again collecting second hand uniform. If you have some that your child has grown out of over the summer we would really appreciate the donation. Please drop it in the office for us or find us on the playground! Our AGM is coming up and as usual EVERYONE is welcome. We will be looking for a new secretary as Sarah Allan is stepping down. She's done an amazing job for us this year and we're all very grateful!! So if you feel like scribbling down our minutes please come along to the school from 7pm on Wednesday 7th October and let us know! As always we'd appreciate all your help and support in this year’s fundraising shenanigans!!
“Y Club” “Y Club” will resume on Friday lunch times from 12 15 pm to 1 15 pm in the school library. The first session will be 9 October. We discuss anything and everything relating to following Jesus in the world of today, as long as the question starts with “Why?”! Rev.Tony Roake
Congratulations to our Learners of the Week:Edwina, Alfie and Haydn

We are committed to safeguarding, please see our Safeguarding Policy on our website:www.kingshillbwmat.org E-Safety Reminder E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Kingshill Church School. Any e-Safety incidents are recorded and managed in accordance with our e-Safety Policy. E-Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with you to ensure the e-Safety message is consistent. Your help is needed to talk to your children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online. May I draw your attention to the guidance/advice which is on our website.
We value parental support. Please let us know by e-mail, calling into the office or catch us in the playground if you have any comments to make.
