Pre-Class Instructions: Please read the instructions completely through at least one time before class. This pattern has the cutting instructions divided into 6 groups. Since this class has 3 sessions, I suggest you have the foundation papers, templates, and fabric cut out for Group A and B. This will give you plenty of things to work on in class. In class 1 we will discuss what to prepare for class 2. I also recommend checking the Quiltworx website for pattern corrections before you begin the project (http://www.quiltworx.com/corrections/). Fabric Selection: For this project you can use the number of different fabrics identified in the pattern or choose to duplicate fabrics to have a simpler color palette. Judy Niemeyer’s book, “Redesigned: In Red, white & Black” has a Lakeshore Hosta variant you could use as a guide for using a reduced color palette. No need to be constrained by red, white, and black, use your favorite colors with the book as a guide for yardage. You can also look at the Quiltworx website (www.quiltworx.com) for many photos of samples. The gals at the Quilt Crossing will be happy to help you select your fabrics as needed. Foundation Paper and Fabric Cutting Instructions: Follow the cutting instructions on page 2 of your pattern to organize your bags. Follow the cutting instructions on pages 4-8 under “Center Leaf: Group A: Cutting Instructions Bags 1, 2, & 3” for the Group A foundation papers, templates, and fabrics. Follow the cutting instructions on pages 10-12 under “Leaf Border: Group B: Cutting Instructions Bags 4,5” for the Group B foundation papers, templates, and fabrics.
