Risk Assessments and Health & Safety in Design & Technology The course will provide a coherent framework to help with understanding of the national standards BS4163:2007 and new gas regulations for education and other publications, and prepares you to compile Risk Assessments for your lessons within your curriculum set up. It will cover food, textiles, RM, Systems and Control, construction and Motor Mechanics. Completion of this process should help to embed both good day-to-day working practice and overall management of health and safety within course members’ departments. OfSTED now look at Safeguarding children and students and at your risk assessment and management of health and safety of children in all classes. It is good practice for all staff to meet these national standards before they use any equipment, processes and tools currently used in Design and Technology.

The aims of this course are to: • Have an understanding of the national standards • Know up-to-date Health and Safety legislation in a practical classroom • Know how to assess risks, and form a risk assessment • Ensure the safeguarding of children in a practical setting Who should attend?
