Longreach Market Report 14th May 2014 A yarding of 2100 head meet a market that stayed firm on the quality cattle but was tough on the plainer types. With all of Queensland saleyards full of stock wishing for a new home with greener pasture. A very small yarding of heavy Bullocks presented with only 70 Cows over 500kg to be sold.

Ray White Longreach Sale Highlights Edkins Campbell & Co 'Bimbah' consigned a quality line of Charolais Steers topping the sale at 169c/kg weighing 371kg, to return $628/head, with slightly heaver steers reaching 160c/kg weighing an average of 476kg returning $762/head.

Rhett Ashman 'Esombe Downs' Winton sold Charbray Bullocks to 140c/kg, weighing 522 kg to return $733/head. Also sold was a quality line of Santa Gertrudis Steers selling to 151c/kg to weigh 403kg returning $609/head. Graham Keith Jackson off agistment at 'Ilfracombe Common' Sold Charolais Steers reaching 165c/kg, weighing 375kg, to return $656/head. Ashman Grazing 'Esombe Downs' Winton sold Simmental Bullocks making 143c/kg, weighing 506kg to return $724/head. Also selling a run of Braford Steers reaching 150c/kg weighing an average of 459kf to return $690/head. Jim & Fiona Hamilton of 'Denton' Longreach sold both Brahman Steers & Heifers with the steers reaching 130c/kg weighing 492kg, returning $640/head, while the heifers sold to 122c/kg, weighing 370 to return $453/head. Also offered was a pen of Charolais Steers which sold to 162c/kg, weighing 383kg, retuning $621/head. Dean & Julie Allen of 'Withywine' Longreach sold Droughtmaster Heifers to 127c/kg, weighing 515kg, to return $655. Lillianfels Pastoral Co 'Lillianfels' Longreach sold a line of both Santa Cross Steers & Cows with the Steers selling to 158c/kg, weighing 463kg, to return $731/head, while the Cows sold to 114c/kg,

weighing 545kg, returning $623/head. Bungoona Pastoral Co 'Bungoona' Longreach sold a Charolais Bullock to 145c/kg, weighing 635kg to return $922. Also Selling a line of Simbrah Heifers and Cows with the Heifers selling to 128c/kg, weighing 378kg, returning $485/head, while the Cows sold to 120c/kg weighing an average of 640kg, returning $769/head. Under the same vendor a pen of Bulls were sold to 120c/kg, weighing 810kg to return $972. Woochie Pastoral Co 'Rio' Longreach sold Charbray heifers to 137c/kg, weighing 560kg, to return $712/head, also offering Santa Gertrudis Cows selling to 120c/kg, weighing 562kg to return $675/head.
