Longreach Market Report 6th March 2013 A yarding of just over 3900 head met a red hot meatworks market for the well finished cattle. The lanes were once again full of store cattle from the northern and western parts of Queensland that have not yet received rain. The store market was stronger for the better lines of cattle. There was only a hand full of bullocks over 600kg yarded and they topped at 175c/kg. Bullocks 500-600kg topped at 176.2c to average 167.7c. Steers 400-500kg topped at 165.2c to average 146.9c. Light feeder steers were making into the early 170’s. The cow market was once again this week red hot with the heavy cows over 520kg ringing the bell at 165.2c to average 145.2c. There was a good yarding of cows 400520kg penned making up to 150.2c to average 132.5c. The fat kill heifers this week sold to a strong market to top at 168.2c to average 156.2c/kg. Quality store steers made in to the 170’s and the light store heifers made into the late 150’s.
