Love in Action
MISSION STATEMENT of Pleasant View Baptist Church Based on the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19-20, we believe it is our church’s mission to: Go into the world seeking to build bridges with the lost Reach them with the Gospel message of forgiveness and life Assimilate them into a local church fellowship Cultivate them in order to help them grow Equip them for fruitful ministry We want to be a church that stands for, is motivated by, and demonstrates G.R.A.C.E. In doing so we will be carrying out the evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship functions of a New Testament church.
This past Sunday we celebrated the ministries that Brother Steve Crisp and Brother Matt Cooley have brought to Pleasant View Baptist Church. We shall continue to pray for all that God desires to do in and through them. We are thankful for their expressions of love to Christ and this fellowship as they have served here. As we move further into 2017, we are seeking God’s leadership to find more effective ways in fulfilling the Great Commission Christ gave us to reach people for Him and His church. We seek to be in alignment with this most clearly-stated reason He left for His followers to be focused upon and allow it to drive us in all that we are doing. Continue to pray for the leadership of Pleasant View Baptist as we plan and work around His priorities for the remainder of this year. As we look back at 2016, I want to recognize many of the things we have done this past year to enhance the physical appearance of our church grounds because these are things that also fell under the heading of positioning us to reach more people for Christ and His church. These things have been done so that individuals would feel a sense of being welcomed into our facility. This is but another evidence of love in action. See below the many things that have been done to enhance our facilities to draw people here: Trees have been cut down from around the back of the property giving a cleaner appearance. The children’s playground equipment was replaced. Sod was put down in the children’s playground area and around the church building. The pre-school rooms have been updated. Replaced the heating and air conditioning (used for the entire education wing) in the children’s wing - roughly $3,000 was able to be saved. Replaced the heating ventilation air conditioning system in the fellowship hall at an $8,000 cost savings. Solved the problem of the temperature fluctuation in the sanctuary by relocating the thermostats. The education building, the fellowship hall, all the halls, Sunday school classrooms, and the intermediate vestibule have been painted. The ceilings in all Sunday school classrooms, fellowship hall, and hallways were redone. There are improvements being made to our restrooms. Replaced all the lights in the sanctuary with LED lighting using in-house labor. Landscaping is scheduled to begin soon. Introduced our more attractive format for our church bulletin. Replaced our old church furniture with newer, more attractive furniture, and did so at a fraction of the price that church furniture would normally be priced at. Put up information boards in the welcome centers outside the fellowship hall and inside the vestibule at the entrance to the sanctuary. Replaced consumable items in the projectors used in our worship service Just looking at all the improvements that have been made during 2016, I am overwhelmed by all that has been done through the selfless service of so many church members who gave hours of their time and talent saving our church thousands of dollars. I am grateful to God to pastor this church full of servants who give of their financial means and also give their time where gifted and able. I am looking forward to 2017 and what God is going to do at Pleasant View Baptist. Already He is blessing the search for a full-time Minister of Worship and Students with a large number of resumes being received within the last two weeks. Continue to pray for God to use us at Pleasant View to be part of the Great Commission. Serving Christ together,
Pastor Glenn
