Series Notes - The Lindenwood women’s hockey team continues its 2016-17 schedule with a two-game exhibition series against the Minnesota Whitecaps on October 15-16 at Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Mo. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on October 15 and 1:00 p.m. on October 16. - The Minnesota Whitecaps are an elite women’s hockey team made up of post-collegiate players. The organization was established in 2004, and was created to give female players in the Midwest an opportunity to continue their playing careers beyond college. - The Minnesota Whitecaps enter the weekend with a record of 0-2-0 this season. On September 23 the Whitecaps fell 5-4 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. On September 24 the Whitecaps traveled to Duluth, Minn. where they were defeated by the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 4-1. The Whitecaps also have games scheduled this season with Bemidji State and Syracuse.
Lindenwood Notes - Kirsten Martin scored the first goal of her collegiate career on October 8 versus Northeastern. Martin’s first goal and point as a Lady Lion came in the second period while on the power play.
- Jolene deBruyn made her second start of the season on October 7 against Northeastern. deBruyn made a season-high 29 saves, including 15 saves during the third period.
- Cierra Paisley and Britannia Gillanders were credited with the assists on Martin’s power-play goal. For Paisley, the assist was the first point of her Lindenwood career.
- On October 8, Morgan Skinner made her secondcareer start and home-debut against Northeastern. Skinner made 12 saves in each of the last two periods, and ended the game with a career-high 32 saves.
- Following her power-play goal, Martin became the third Lady Lion to score her first-career goal through Lindenwood’s first four games this season. On October 1 at Minnesota, Corbin Welsh and Taylor Girard also scored for the first time in a Lindenwood uniform.
- Courtney Ganske, Carla Goodwin, and Tae Otte have each registered a team-leading eight blocked shots this season. Otte led the team in blocked shots last season, totaling 107 blocks over her 37 games played. Goodwin had a season-high five blocks on Sept. 30.
- Sarah Bobrowski registered a team-high seven shots against Northeastern on October 8. Bobrowski has led the Lady Lions in shots in two games this season.
- During the second period on October 8 versus Northeastern, Lindenwood sent a single-period seasonhigh 11 shots on goal.
- Emma Hare is currently winning 63.2% of her faceoffs this season. Hare has won 12 of her 19 faceoffs thus far.
- Lindenwood goaltenders are averaging 9.5 saves per period this season. That average is up from the 8.1 saves per period a season ago.

Scott Spencer is in his third season as the head coach of the Lindenwood women’s ice hockey program in 2016-17. He has been a hockey coach for the last 13 years, including the last 10 in women’s hockey. In 2015-16, the Lady Lions recorded nine wins.
