Series Notes - The Lindenwood women’s hockey team opens the home portion of its 2016-17 season with a two-game series versus the Northeastern Huskies. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on October 7, and 7:00 p.m. on October 8 at the Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Mo. - The home series with Northeastern is the first of nine series that will take place at the Lindenwood Ice Arena this season. The Lady Lions are also slated to host the Minnesota Whitecaps (Oct. 15-16), RIT (Nov. 18-19), Mercyhurst (Dec. 2-3), North Dakota (Dec. 16-17), Wisconsin (Jan. 6-7), Syracuse (Jan. 20-21), Penn State (Feb. 10-11), and Robert Morris (Feb. 24-25) this season. - Northeastern arrives in Wentzille with a record of 0-2-0 after falling to St. Lawrence twice at home to open its season on September 30 and October 1. The Huskies dropped the opening contest by a final score of 5-0, before losing 6-5 during the series finale.
Lindenwood Notes - On October 10, 2015 Jolene deBruyn started in goal for Lindenwood at Northeastern. In just her secondcareer start, deBruyn guided the Lady Lions to a 4-2 upset victory over the then-ranked No. 10 Huskies. In the victory, deBruyn registered 38 saves.
The freshman goaltender turned in a game-high 26 saves. Skinner made a personal-best 11 saves during the second period. - The Lindenwood penalty-kill unit managed to kill off five of its six opportunities at No. 2 Minnesota during its first two games. Last season the Lady Lions killed off 84.4% of the penalties against them.
- deBruyn started in goal to open the 2016-17 season on September 30 at No. 2 Minnesota. deBruyn recorded 27 saves during the 3-0 loss.
- Sarah Bobrowski and Holly Dietzler each sent a teamhigh three shots on goal over Lindenwood’s first two games at No. 2 Minnesota.
- Sophomore Corbin Welsh notched her first-career goal at No. 2 Minnesota on October 1. Welsh’s unassisted first period goal was the first score of the season for the Lady Lions.
- Shannon Morris-Reade picked up an assist in the second period on October 1 at Minnesota. MorrisReade ranked second on the team in assists with 15 last season.
- Freshman Taylor Girard lit the lamp on October 1 at Minnesota, earning her first career collegiate point and goal in the process. Girard’s tally came in the second period, and helped draw the Lady Lions within one goal of the Golden Gophers.
- Britannia Gillanders won a team-leading 55% of her faceoffs during Lindenwood’s opening two games. Gillanders paced the Lady Lions in the faceoff circle, winning 11 of her 20 draws against the Golden Gophers.
- Morgan Skinner made her first career start in goal for the Lady Lions on October 1 at No. 2 Minnesota.

Scott Spencer is in his third season as the head coach of the Lindenwood women’s ice hockey program in 2016-17. He has been a hockey coach for the last 13 years, including the last 10 in women’s hockey. In 2015-16, the Lady Lions recorded nine wins. That total included a 4-2 win over nationally-ranked Northeastern, marking the first time Lindenwood defeated a team that would go on In One-Goal Games...................... 5-7-0............ 4-9-0...........0-0-0 and compete in the NCAA Division I National Tournament.
