Welcome back! I hope you had a fun-filled Spring Break with your family and friends. Don’t forget that as you are coming back from Spring Break, we have our Scholastic Book Fair in the Pacific Room. It is our annual BOGO Book Fair, where you can buy one book and get one free! Our CAASPP testing for our 3rd graders is next week! Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a nutritious breakfast. If you are a parent of a 3rd grader, please be sure to access the CAASPP website, www.caaspp.org with your child to help them with the ELA and Math practice tests that they have available. These resources will help your child get an idea of the format of the test so they can feel more prepared for the actual CAASPP test. In our curriculum before the break, our 3rd graders were working hard on their CAASPP Practice Tests with Ms. Shelby! Ms. Esther and Ms. Angie were in the classroom with our 1st and 2nd graders and they reviewed area and perimeter in Math and Geometry. In Language, our 1st and 2nd graders reviewed homophones to prepare for their spelling test. During our Literacy Block in the afternoon, we continued our unit on persuasive writing as they completed their first draft. This week they will work on revising, editing, and begin publishing their work. Meet our new CMPCarmichael mascot, Monty the Shark! Slamson from the Sacramento Kings basketball team came to our assembly before Spring Break and helped us unveil our mystery mascot. We were all thrilled to see Monty as many of our students voted for the shark!
