The Atlanta University Center Lutheran Campus Ministry

Since January 2015 we have been busy. We have held some Sunday worship services with student participation. In February, we submitted a Letter of Interest with the Lilly Endowment for Campus Ministry Theological Exploration of Vocation Initiative. We have received an invitation to submit the actual proposal by June 8, 2015. We currently have two graduate students from Clark Atlanta University, two students from Spelman, one student from Morris Brown and two students from Morehouse and one student from Georgia State (friends with the graduate students). In April, we hosted Lutheran Night at the Alliance and invited local churches to join us. We have just celebrated with Pastor Tony Prinsen and the First Lutheran Church in Kennesaw who shared Word and Sacrament at the final service on campus before graduation. We are sincerely thankful for our board members who have supported the work of the campus ministry. Rick Goerss (Board Member) donated money so that we could make 50 care packages full of snacks, pens, sticky notes, water and Gatorade for student to have during finals week. Also, the Luther’s Tea & Coffee Spot was open for business during the week leading up to and during the week of finals. Thanks for Rev. Kim Jackson (Episcopal Chaplain) for setting the coffee and tea out daily. Finally, we are looking forward to attending the graduation of five students on May 16-17, 2015. We are thankful and grateful for the Grace that our Lord has shown us throughout this last academic year and look forward to planning for our students in the fall.

Yours in Christian Service, W. Tina Trice-Culpepper
