The Intercom... Order of Daedalians

We are a fraternity that is founded on the common love of aviation and true service. Its a new year and we need to continue supporting “THE CENTURY CLUB” to make sure that we can award our scholarships!! In order to be a member you have to give $100 in scholarship by the end of the calendar year. Remember that the amount in “THE CENTURY CLUB 2013” box of the insert is if you plan to give with each intercom. If you haven’t been giving write a check for the “catch up” amount and you will be in the club!

Daedalian Flight 2 has been making an effort to save Hangar 9, the last WWI military hangar in San Antonio. Thanks to all who have contributed and Flight 2 recognized Roy Purche for his generous contribution that will help save this military history. If you want to help you can send a contribution to The Stinsons Flight #2 P.O. Box 121 Randolph AFB TX 78148.

The Order of Daedalians, the National Fraternity of Military Pilots, was organized on 26 March 1934 by a group of World War I commissioned Army pilots to perpetuate the spirit of patriotism, love of country and ideals of self-sacrifice which place service to nation above personal safety or position. Membership is open to pilots (commissioned, warrant officers, USAAF flight officers, and WASPs) of all US armed services and who can be on active duty, retired or have left the service, under honorable conditions, prior to retirement. Steve Chealander Steve, what an amazing journey you took us on! Everyone so enjoyed the stories and life experiences that you shared with us on Founders Day. It was eye opening some of the revelations you have regarding technology and the advancement of technology with regard to the quality of pilots we have today. You made our Founders Day one that everyone will not soon forget! Many thanks!

And a good time was had by all....What an outstanding Founders Day and a huge thank you to those who participated and brought guests. Please remember that guests are invited to every meeting!! We have finally set the date for the golf tournament so please mark your calendars and start thinking about your foursomes. We also want you to invite fellow flyers from other organizations. Some of you are in the B-17 group in Long Beach or Wings Over Wendys to name just 2. There is no reason that we cannot include those folks in the one fundraiser we have a year. It would be great to get to know some more folks that love flying as much as we do!! One of our own is speaking in May; Bob Ettinger. His experience is so broad that I am really looking forward to hearing some good stories...test pilots ALWAYS have great stories. I am disappointed to say that I will be unable to attend the meeting in May. I have a military commitment that I am unable to move. Art Connor will be stepping in and running the meeting in my stead. Thanks in advance Art. Finally, the Century Club. Last year, we were talking about curbing our scholarship giving and now you have all turned that around. Thank you for so generously honoring the spirit of the founders of this organization and making it possible for future aviators to realize their dreams. We may be a small group but we are changing the world one scholarship at a time! Please keep it up and join the Century Club this month if you have not already. I am so proud to be a member of Daedalians and especially Flight 7! Volabamus
