Volume 1,Issue 5 May 2014
WELCOME! Greetings!
Spring is the time of year for renewal and growth. We welcome in fresh air and are renewed with the excitement of summer and outdoor activities. MAYRA is no different. Each Spring its time for renewal and a time to refresh. On Monday, April 21, 2014 MAYRA held our annual meeting. In April we meet and ask members of our organization to join us for discussions, financial information and the election of new board members.
Each year there are also three 3‐year terms on the Board of Directors that need to be filled. This year all three of our incumbent board members chose not to run for re‐election. Luke Athey, Kris Radeke and Sheila Swenson. Kris Radeke and Sheila Swenson, have been long standing Board Members. Their guidance and involvement has been a great asset to all of our youth programs. If you are new to our association or have been a member for a long time, it’s always good to be reminded what the mission of our organization is.
MAYRA’s mission statement is as follows: To organize, direct and promote youth activities in a manner that will positively represent our community in a fun, fair and safe environment for all participating youth. The program seeks to develop, improve and challenge individual skills as well as team play concepts in a fun, positive and safe atmosphere.
It is the job of our board to organize, develop and bring opportunities to as many of the kids in our community as possible. It may not always be the best team on the field or in the arena but we strive to keep as many kids involved as possible, teach them about To fill those three positions, five candidates teamwork, fair play and as our mission were listed on the ballot. MAYRA encourages your participation! Time is limited for all of us, but our youth are one of our greatest assets and they are only young for a short period of time. Time invested during their youth will be time you cherish for eternity. This organization was founded on volunteerism and without that we have very little.
Your time, effort, constructive feedback and continued support is appreciated and valued. Sincerely, Patti Miller MAYRA President
