The Cardinal men’s soccer team looks to add to its five-game winning streak tonight when it hosts Ohio Northern in its second Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) matchup of the season. Otterbein most recently secured a 1-0 victory over rival Capital in its conference opener this past Saturday, as junior Zach Lewis’ goal in the 20th minute off a corner kick from classmate Toby Varland proved to be the decisive score in the match. The Cards have surrendered just one goal to their opponents in all but two games so far this year, posting four shutouts in the process. Leading the way for the Cardinals at midseason is junior Juan Rivas, who is top-five in the OAC in points (16) and goals (7). Sophomore Kennedy Mensah has also broken through as a key contributor on offense, netting five goals and assisting on another through nine matches. Sophomore Collin Hoffmann has been stellar between the posts once again, stopping the second-most shots in the OAC (36). ONU enters tonight equaling the Cards’ win streak of five-straight, including a 1-0 win at Mount Union in its league opener. Goalkeeper Dylan Plank has helped lock down the Polar Bear defense, ranking in the top-five in the OAC in goals against (6), goals-against average (0.74), and save percentge (.818). Midfielder J.J. Fortner currently leads ONU on offense, tying for second in the league in goals (7) and fourth in points (16). The Polar Bears are 3-1-1 away from home field this year.
