Minot Soccer Association Individual/Team Fundraising Opportunities for Competitive Travel Teams

INDIVIDUAL An individual or family may choose to do fundraising to offset individual fees related to the competitive travel program through any of these opportunities: Minot Soccer Association Concession Stand – Concessions are sold during most outdoor recreation games, tournaments and high school games. Adults (parents or other interested adult – sorry no kids, public health codes don’t allow) can sign up to work a shift or prepare a baked good (only specifically requested baked items). Adult will then receive a voucher that may be applied to MSA soccer fees. At the start of each season, team managers will receive information to share with their team parents on how to sign up. M&S Concessions - At times throughout the year, M&S Concessions, a Minotbased organization that provides concessions at local events, requests individuals to staff these events. The reimbursement for that work is payable to the individual via vouchers that may be applied to their MMFC account. You will receive notice from your team manager when there is a request. For more information on upcoming events, call M&S Concessions office at (701) 852-3045. Become a Referee - Earn funds to offset fees by becoming a referee and working at games sponsored by the Minot Soccer Association. Refereeing courses are offered at varying times throughout the year and in different venues throughout the state and neighboring states. Each individual will pay the upfront costs for the referee course; MSA will reimburse the cost of the course once 4 games are officiated by the individual. Once the course fee has been reconciled, you may offer your services as a ref for any of the MSA-sponsored games. You may opt to receive payment for reffing or receive a voucher for the same amount. Either of

these forms of dispensation may be turned in to your team manager to offset fees at the time these payments are due. Once you have become certified as a referee, you may register with the North Dakota Soccer League (NDSL) of your status and desire to ref games, via website at www.ndsasoccerleague.com. You will then be offered dates of games in need of refs and be paid per the current fee structure. This option is not available for vouchers; however, you will be paid in check that can be used to pay for fees. Contact the Minot Soccer Association at [email protected] for dates of upcoming classes and any questions.

TEAM A team may choose to do fundraising together to offset tournament entrance fees for their team, coaching fees or to purchase an item to support their team (e.g. team bench, canopy, etc.). Below is a list of “Pre-Approved Fundraisers.” These fundraisers do not need to go through the board approval process, however, all fundraising events need to have completed a MSA Application/Notice/Summary Form prior to starting the event to alert the board that this event is taking place in the name of Minot Soccer Association and to alert the treasurer that funds will be coming in and to what account they need to go. Email forms to [email protected]. Pre-Approved Team Fundraising Opportunities: Pizza Ranch – Team members share flyers with friends and family to bring with them when they come to local franchise to eat on a specific day. Team members then help wait staff with clearing tables. A portion of the day’s receipts goes to the team. http://www.pizzaranch.com/fundraising Contact local franchise: Pizza Ranch Minot 305 37th Avenue SW Minot, ND 58701 701-852-3663 Taco Johns - Team members share flyers with friends and family to bring with them when they come to local franchise (Taco Johns location is chosen by the

team and then is specified on the flyer) to eat on a specific day. Each team is eligible to do this fundraiser one time per year (following the school year calendar.) These fundraisers always take place Thursday evenings from 5pm7pm. Team members then help deliver trays to patrons and clear tables. 50% of designated sales earned during that 2-hour fundraising period go to the team, BUT only of the sales where the patron specified they wanted their proceeds to go to the team or they produced a flyer. Advertising by distributing the flyers is encouraged ahead of time and the more lead time you allow before the event, the more advertising you can do. Advertising/soliciting/handing out of flyers is not allowed at the Taco Johns location during the fundraiser. After the fundraiser, it takes about 1 week for Taco Johns to send the team a check for their earnings. Contact Paula at Preferred Restaurant Group (corporate office) 701-838-7079

***While the fundraisers noted below require a team to undertake the event, teams may choose to have funds go to entire team, be awarded to individuals who actually participate and may desire to sell more to offset their own individual fees, or may choose to do a combination of both options. With this last option, the team decides the amount that each family is required to sell (or donate the equivalent amount of money) to the team and families which choose to, may work to sell more to offset their individual fees. Nite Train Pizza - Locally-owned restaurant with a great history of supporting MSA and soccer, through fundraising opportunities, usually selling discount cards for pizzas and calzones.
