After discussing childhood memories, experiences, loved objects and comfortable environments amongst our group we found and made several similarities and connections. These included our love of being in, around and looking at water, playing instruments in our youth such as the violin and piano, and our collective affinity of sunlight –in some cases how the sunlight affected the material environment. We wanted to use these found parallels to create a space incorporating all of our happy and comfortable environments. As a process we mapped these out with the intention of producing an architectural installation with peaceful, uncrowded, floating, views. We discussed the instruments and thought about how they created sound and the tensile quality of their strings, which related to the tension of one member’s struggle of remembering her childhood.
