Qualification Overview
What is involved?
NPQSL provides recognition of leadership development and professional achievement for senior leaders. Candidates have access to high-quality learning materials and accounts of practice from outstanding leaders. Senior leaders reflect on their own leadership through discussion and debate with peers and put theory into practice. The qualification has been designed to stimulate and challenge thinking, build knowledge, skills and expertise, and promote change and improvement in leadership behaviours, capability and capacity. The qualification has a flexible combination of blended learning and support opportunities that includes face-to-face sessions, online learning, personal tutor and peer support. Connected Partnership TSA delivery approach The TSA’s delivery approach is to role-model outstanding practice and use coaching techniques to support you to unlock your leadership potential. You will be encouraged to reflect on your own areas of strength, observe ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ practice demonstrated by other school leaders, allowing you to evaluate the impact you have as a leader in your own school and identify your key priorities for development.
To achieve the NPQSL qualification, you will need to successfully complete two essential modules: 1) Closing the Gap 2) Succeeding in Senior Leadership Two elective modules chosen from: • Effective partnership working • Effective whole-school management • Improving the quality of teaching • Leading change for improvement • Leading professional development • Research and development in teaching • School self-evaluation Each module requires up to 50 hours of blended learning, which typically consists of 20 hours workplace learning, 6 hours face to face activity, including peer and facilitated learning, 6 hours coaching/reflection and 18 hours on line learning.
