FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Shawl measures approximately 32"/81.5cm wide (from back neck) x 58"/147.5cm long (across top edge) GAUGE Rows 1–6 = 4"/10cm, unblocked; In pattern, 10 Puffs = 4"/10cm, unblocked. Note: To obtain desirable drape, choose a hook that is 2 or 3 sizes larger than what you would usually use with this yarn. Gauge is not critical for this project. STITCHES USED Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st) SPECIAL STITCHES Puff: Puff stitch—Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop to same height as dc; yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop to same height as dc, yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 to close puff stitch (ch 1 is part of puff stitch and does not count as a separate stitch). SHAWL Beginning at back neck, ch 5; join with sl st in first ch to form ring. Edging: Working in ends of rows across side edges; work 3 sc in end of each dc row, 1 sc in end of each sc row, and 3 sc in beginning center ring all the way across; join with sl st in first sc of Row 42. Fasten off. FINISHING Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block lightly, if desired.
