June 5 – July 30, 2017 PROSPECTUS New Jersey Art Association members whose dues are paid for 2017 may submit two original works of art that have not previously received awards in MSHAC or NJAA ELIGIBILITY:

exhibitions. Sculptures can be accommodated in this exhibit. Two-dimensional works must be ready for hanging (framed and securely wired), may not be narrower than 11 inches, including the frame, or wider than 40 inches. They may not weigh more than 20 pounds. Plexiglas rather than regular glass is recommended for larger works. Wet or tacky paintings will not be accepted. Works depicting nudes, violence or alcohol- or drug-related themes will not be accepted, nor will crafts, giclées, prints or copies of previously published images. NJAA reserves the right to reject any work it deems inappropriate. The hanging and placement of artwork will be at the discretion of the exhibition chair. All entries must be registered in advance. The deadline is Wednesday, May 31, 2017. No registrations will be accepted after that date. Artwork will be received between 10 a.m. and noon on Monday, June 5, in the college’s Learning Resource Center. Follow the signs on campus to the security office to get a parking pass, then park in Lot 6 or Lot 7 and walk to the Learning Resource Center. A security agent can provide assistance if necessary.

RECEIVING:

If you are unable to deliver work between 10 a.m. and noon on June 5, please call Mike Dziomba, the NJAA president, at (973) 518-0559 to make alternate arrangements. First, second and third-place awards and as many as three honorable mention awards will be presented at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22.

RECEPTION AND AWARDS:

Rocco Scary, who holds a BFA from Montclair State University and an MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, is a multi-disciplinary artist and papermaker. His artist books have been featured at venues from New York to California. He currently teaches sculpture at the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown

JUROR:

Mike Dziomba, the NJAA president, will handle sales. There will be no commission. Sales tax should be included in the price of the work, and selling artists will be responsible for reporting the tax. SALES:

Unsold works may be picked up between 10 a.m. and noon on Monday, July 31. If you are unable to pick up work during this period, please call Mike Dziomba, the NJAA president, at (973) 518-0559 to make alternate arrangements. Unless such arrangements have been made, work not retrieved during the pickup period will be stored at the artist’s risk and expense.

Each entry must have one of the labels below (or a facsimile providing the same information) attached to the lower-right back corner. An optional artist’s biography may also be attached to the back of the work. A label bearing the artist’s name and the title of the work should be attached to the lower-right corner on the front; painters’ low-adhesion tape can be used.
