PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANYSSA SANCHEZ • Rowan University Senior • Guard • Pine Hill, NJ/Sterling Anyssa Sanchez earns the first NJAC Player of the Week honor of the 2016-17 season after leading Rowan to three wins to open the new campaign. She averaged 19.0 points and 8.7 rebounds, while adding 10 steals, three assists and two blocked shots and going a blistering 67.6 percent from the field. She opened the season with 12 points in a 71-67 win over Delaware Valley. She then put together a double-double of 20 points and 16 boards in the Neumann Tip-Off Tournament opener against Mount St. Vincent, going 8-for-10 from the field. She followed up with 25 points and a career-high-tying six steals in the tournament championship game against Neumann. With 45 points and 20 boards in the two tourney games, Sanchez was named the MVP while leading the Profs to the title.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
TU’ZIAH HALL • New Jersey City University Freshman • Guard • Greenville, NC/Banneker Hall earns the first NJAC Rookie of the Week honor of the 2016-17 season after leading NJCU to a 2-1 week to open the season. She averaged 17.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.7 steals in the first week of her collegiate career, including three straight double-digit scoring games. She opened her career with 12 points, six boards, five assists and two steals in a win over York (NY). She followed up with 19 points, five rebounds and six helpers in a setback to Wheaton (MA), before upping her early career record with 20 points along with two rebounds, six assists and four steals in a win over Newbury. She was named to the All-Tournament Team of the Cheryl Warren-Powers ‘95 Memorial Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by Wheaton.
