THE SERIES: NJCU leads, 57-10. R-N has won the last three meetings. LAST MEETING: On February 6, 2010 in Newark, NJ. R-N won, 57-39. Half of the Raiders points came from then-senior James Johnson with 29. Isaiah Johnson had a game-best nine rebounds and added seven points for NJCU. LAST TIME OUT: On November 22 in Brooklyn, NY, NJCU led Medgar Evers by 29 points in the second half before the Cougars used their athleticism to rally for a 77-74 victory. Josh Hosang led NJCU with 15 points. Da’Shon Barrino added 14. NJAC and HOME OPENER: NJCU opens its 11-game home schedule tonight when it hosts rival Rutgers-Newark in the first game of a 13-game conference slate. NJCU, THE DARK HORSE: In the 2010-11 NJAC preseason coaches poll, NJCU was predicted to finish third of five teams in the North Division, but was also selected as the conference’s ‘Dark Horse’ and received one firstplace vote. Newark was picked fourth and also received a first-place vote. Ramapo received the other eight top votes and was the league’s preseason favorite. HOSANG ACCURATE: Junior center Josh Hosang ranks No. 2 in the NJAC in field goal percentage. He is shooting an impressive 70.6 percent, making 12-of-17 in the first three games of the year. BARRINO AT THE LINE: If Da’Shon Barrino had enough games played to qualify, his .909 free throw percentage (1011) would lead the league. He leads NJCU in scoring (14.5). STRIPPING, SWATTING: Keith Williams leads the NJAC in steals per game (3.3) and Dashawn Eagle’s 2.7 blocks per contest is also a conference high.

Muhammad leads the conference with a staggering 8.3 assists per game, dishing 33 in four contests, including 13 in a win over CCNY. SCORING and UNBEATEN: Newark enters the game 4-0 on the year and has won three times by double figures. Newark defeated Medgar Evers in overtime by nine points on November 15—the lone common opponent so far this year. This is the Raiders NJAC opener as well and their first road game of the season. LEADING the LEAGUE: Newark’s 84.0 per game scoring offense is tops in the NJAC. #41 Josh HOSANG Junior | Center Hackensack, NJ/ Palm Beach Central HS • Brown on Hosang: “Our best interior scorer and most powerful inside post player, he brings experience to this program. We expect a big presence from him as an inside post scorer.” • Prior to NJCU: Hosang starred for Bergen Community College the last two seasons and helped BCC record a 31-0 record before losing in the 2009-10 national semifinals. • High School: Played four seasons of basketball (three varsity) for Coach Tom Atkins and one season of football at Palm Beach Central High School. He earned First-Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention AllCountry honors and was a Palm Beach County All Star. He is the only player in school history to average a double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds per game) for the Broncos and owns the school’s scoring and rebounding records. • Academics: Majoring in Health Science. Wants to become a physical therapist, trainer or health teacher and eventually an athletic director or coach.
