Weekly Newsletter
Friday 8th November 2013
This week‟s school news and information Congratulations Many congratulations to Ethan Lee-Birch, who you may remember was completing a sponsored swim over the half term holiday to raise money for „Keeping Oswestry Alive‟. In total Ethan raised a magnificent £300 - enough to buy a brand new defibrillator for the town. We would like to commend him for his determination with this venture and for the positive contribution he has made to the local community. Shoeboxes Many thanks to all those families who have already returned their filled shoeboxes. Oswestry Rotary Club will collect the completed boxes on Tuesday 12th November so if you haven't already sent your box into school, we would be grateful if you could send it in on Monday next week. If this isn‟t possible for any reason, please let us know so that we can discuss how to get your box to the Rotary Club at a later date. Hi-5 Netball Tournament Congratulations to our school Hi-5 Netball team who came 2nd in a tournament against seven other local schools earlier this week. The team played extremely well and represented the school brilliantly. Congratulations and thanks to: Demi Williams, Robbie Bateman, Louis Faux, Grace Jones, George Lloyd, Melissa Huxley, Sam Wall, Sarah Richards and Amy Aldwinckle Tag Rugby Tournament Our school team took part in a local Tag Rugby tournament yesterday at Oswestry Rugby Club and came a very close second (only 1 point in it) in their group. Very well done to: Louis Faux, Harry Rogers, Daniel Carlyle, Morgan Drury, George Lloyd, Robbie Bateman, Harrison Giddens, Ellie Potts, Emily Woodmass and Grace Jones who all played fantastically with 100% effort. School Photos If you haven't sent your completed order form back to school yet, please could you make sure that you do so by Monday as we will be sending the orders off to ensure that everyone‟s photos are received in time for Christmas. Any late orders sent in to school after this date will be returned to parents to post off independently, which may then result in a late order charge.

Who‟s on our „Well Done‟ board this week? Well done this week to... Mrs Thomas Reception
Logan Edwards ~ For being such a kind and thoughtful boy. Logan is always smiling and has a super sense of humour. His reading is super duper and Mrs Thomas is always very pleased to see how much Logan reads at home. Logan is Mrs Thomas‟s little star—keep it up!
Mrs Miller & Mrs Meeke-Smith Year R/1
Jay Morris ~ For being such a super star, coming into school everyday with a big smile on his face. Jay is always kind to his friends and plays nicely with everyone. Jay has been trying very hard to write his name and now it looks amazing. He is a whizz at letters and sounds and knows all his tricky words. Jay sounds out and blends words beautifully. Well done Jay, keep up the hard work
Mr Blakemore Year 1
Cassey Williams ~ For having a tremendous week. Cassey has really impressed Mr Blakemore with some fantastic writing about the book „Monkey Puzzle‟. Cassey has used words like „because‟ and even started to think about speech! Cassey has been equally brilliant in Numeracy becoming a 100 square professional, using careful counting on to get the right answers every time.
Mrs Jeukens Year 2
Kacey Morris ~ For working so hard all week. Mrs Jeukens is particularly impressed with Kacey‟s attempts in spelling and the way she has started to join her writing. Kacey is a very helpful girl and is always polite in class. Mrs Jeukens is delighted with the way Kacey has listened so carefully to this week‟s new Numeracy concepts. Kacey has made a very good start to Year 2, keep working hard!
Mrs Jones Year 2/3
Callum Anthony ~ For impressing Mrs Jones this term with his determination to succeed by listening to and responding to advice offered. Callum is very kind to his friends in class and regularly offers to help. Well done Callum and keep smiling.
Miss Preston Year 3/4
Daisy Jones ~ Daisy has had a super week. She is always polite and kind and tries her best, especially in Numeracy. Daisy created a super report on Anne Boleyn, full of interesting facts. Miss Preston was very impressed with Daisy‟s homework when she created a Christening Card for the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge. That, and her beaming smile, have made Daisy Miss Preston‟s “Star of the Week”.
Mr Durrell Year 4/5
Ben Gallier ~ Ben has returned from half term and has hit the ground running. He has impressed Mr Durrell with his knowledge of the properties of 2D shapes and his confidence using a protractor to measure angles. In literacy Ben has been using onomatopoeia effectively to write descriptions, giving his writing a real buzz.
Mrs Dare and Mrs Derham Year 5
Emily Norwood ~ For being such a superstar this term. Emily gets on well with everything she is asked to do in a quiet and mature manner, she is determined to do her best in everything she tries. All the adults in Emily‟s class are very pleased with her hard work, keep it up Emily!
Mrs O‟Dwyer Year 6
Owain Payne ~ For impressing Mrs Williams with his enthusiastic attitude in class this week. Owain is really interested in finding out and learning more and more facts and information, it‟s great. He has always been a keen writer but now this is spreading into everything he does. If Owain keeps up this super attitude he will go far, well done.
