Senior Football Tadgh Crowley Cup Semi Final Senior footballers fail to take their chances against Bishopstown in the Tadgh Crowley Cup semi-final. A home fixture in Brinny on Sunday morning, the Rovers just came up short with Fiachra Lynch and John Cottrell kicking 4 points each to Bishopstowns 1-8. The city side opened the scoring on 4 minutes, both sides trading points (Fiachra 2 and John 3) and going in level at half time 0-5 apiece. The visitors again opened the scoring with a point just after the break and goaled soon afterwards to put 1-1 between the sides 10 minutes into the second half. 2 points from Fiachra and one from John put the minimum between the sides on 50 minutes. Bishopstown went 2 points up before the home side was awarded a penalty after a foul on Fiachra in the 56 minute. The captain stepped up but his firmly struck shot was wide of the goalkeeper’s right hand post. Bishopstown added another point on the full-time whistle to leave the score 1-8 to 0-8. The Rovers had ample opportunities over the hour and if a little more clinical in scoring positions it could easily have been a different outcome. Hard day at the office for valleys u15s today losing to st Michaels 4:11 to 2:02. This was our first day out with a football and it showed. We were down 7 pts at half time but if we had taken our scoring opportunities we could possibly have been ahead at halftime, missing a penalty and numerous scoring chances. The second half continued in the same vain conceding an early goal and Michaels running out convincing winners. Ronan Hoey,Ronan Cremin and Cian Crowley being best for Valleys on the day, others to try hard were Charlie Lyons and Shane Lynch Page 2 of 5
U13 football St Michaels 0-0 to Valley Rovers 5-8 Valley Rovers U13 footballers played their first league match against St Michaels on Saturday in Mahon. Rovers played against a very strong wind in the first half. Adam Walsh Murphy opened the scoring with a well-taken point from a free and soon afterwards Dylan Hoey was dragged down for a penalty, which he scored himself. Rovers proceeded to dominate the game and, playing with the wind in the second half, they proved too strong for their opponents. They showed some very good teamwork and ran out comfortable winners.
