It’s home to a higher proportion of both children and older people than Portsmouth as a whole and a correspondingly smaller working age population. Definitions and Notes Ward Profile Dependency/Support Ratios (2014 ONS Mid Year Estimates) The Total Dependency Ratio is the number of children (aged 0-15) and older people aged 65 and over, to every 100 people of working age (i.e. those aged 16-64). The Child Ratio is the number of children to every 100 people of working age. The Old Age Support Ratio is the number of people aged 65 and over per 100 people of working age. The Ageing Index is the number of children to every 100 older people.
