Definitions and Notes Ward Profile Dependency/Support Ratios (2014 ONS Mid Year Estimates) The Total Dependency Ratio is the number of children (aged 0-15) and older people aged 65 and over, to every 100 people of working age (i.e. those aged 16-64). The Child Ratio is the number of children to every 100 people of working age. The Old Age Support Ratio is the number of people aged 65 and over per 100 people of working age. The Ageing Index is the number of children to every 100 older people.

The ages of the household members and their relationships to each other are used to derive the number of bedrooms required. The number of bedrooms required is subtracted from the number of bedrooms in the household's accommodation to obtain the occupancy rating. An occupancy rating of -1 implies that a household has one fewer room/bedroom than required.
