Northwest Avalanche Center NWAC Membership Volunteer Internship June 22nd, 2017
Mission Statement The Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) is a collaborative effort between the US Forest Service Northwest Avalanche Center and the nonprofit Northwest Avalanche Center. The mission of NWAC is to save lives and reduce the impacts of avalanches on recreation, industry and transportation in the Cascade and Olympic Mountains of Washington and northern Oregon through mountain weather and avalanche forecasting, data collection, and education. Background The nonprofit side of NWAC fundraises in a number of ways to promote the mission of NWAC. A large portion of NWAC income is raised at proprietary events and via a large membership program. Additionally, NWAC attends other events to promote avalanche safety and awareness. Responsibilities The Northwest Avalanche Center is seeking an intern to assist the Development and Communications Manager in all areas related to the membership program. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a professional environment and gain both nonprofit and avalanche safety experience. The intern will take ownership of the administrative duties of the membership program, which includes cataloging weekly donations, updating Salesforce, and shipping member items. This internship will also coordinate with the communications intern to help staff NWAC outreach and educational events. Required Qualifications

Recommended Qualifications
A passion for winter sports and/or avalanche safety Experience with Salesforce or other CRM
Commitment The position requires a commitment of 5-10 hours per week for the course of the season (October 1th to June 1st). The work will consist of primarily office time and events throughout the Puget Sound area. Our offices are located one block from Greenlake in Seattle.

NWAC will provide references, work experience, nonprofit skills, and projects to add to your resume. NWAC will offer a certificate to a local Level 1 avalanche class or ski/snowboard equipment of equivalent cost, as agreed upon before the start of the position.
