In looking over the Whitlock 9/Whitlocks of Connecticut printout I discovered a possible error in a surname - nothing major but I may have been the source of the informationo Benjamin Whitlock b. 12 May 1775 married Abiah Higley and their dau,ghte 1', Electa b. 1801 married Nehemiah GOVER. The printout has the name as GROVER. The information I have on E1ecta came to me in a rathe I' round-about way and I have no ve rification of he l' ':)irth or marriage. In 1982 1 placed a query in the Whitlock Gleanings (Vol. l~ #3) requesting information on Hiram Ho Whitlock and in answer received a reply from Mrso Norman Lutz, 1433 Elderwood Cto N. W., Grand Rapids, M149504, also a subscriber to the Whitlock Gleanings. She wrote that she had clipped a query from the 1972 "Gateway to the West" (?) which stated the foll.owing: "Need issue of Benjamin and Abic;h (Higley) Whitlock, Meigs County~ Ohio. Known Ch: Hiram Higley Whitlock bo 1799 and Electa Whitlock bo 18010 Both bo in CT 0 Electa mo Nehemiah Govero Write Mrso Velma Welch, Box 26, Turon, Kso 67383.11 This address from 1972 was no longer valid in 1982, and a letter to the post office in Turon resulted in this address for Mrs. Welch: RR 1, Box 29~ Florence~ Colorado 81226. I wrote to this address and did not receive an answer. The postmaster in Florence writes that this is still a valid address for Velma Welch. So my information on Electa comes entirely from the 1972 query. Mrs. Welch must be a descendant from Electao
