From the PrinciPAL Read, Read, Read In real estate the word loca5on, loca5on, loca5on is used to impress upon you everything you need to know to be successful. If you want to give your child an advantage in educa5on and in life the word you need to know is read, read, read. By reading aloud to your child on a consistent basis you help them to build their literacy skills. By exposing your child to new and more challenging vocabulary you are developing their ability to master words and add to their literacy repertoire. In addi5on, reading can provide wonderful bonding experiences between you and your child. It seems as though there is never enough 5me for that in our digital, instant gra5fica5on culture. Reading to your child is good for you too. It tests your own abili5es by asking you to use words that you may not regularly use. At the same 5me listening to a story being read allows a child to stay focused and concentrate on the words and the story. It encourages them to wonder and ask ques5ons. That is how we all learn. So, read, read, read. Mark Tess Principal Boothbay Region Elementary School
