Greetings From the President... Greetings... On behalf of SUNY College at Old Westbury, please let me welcome you to this event. Each athletic contest is not only a chance for our Panther teams to compete, but also a showcase for everything our college offers. Please drive or take a walk around campus. As you do, you will notice physical improvements either recently completed or now underway. Speak with our staff or faculty and hear their dedication and the mission of SUNY College at Old Westbury will shine through. And of course, get to know our students. Whether during competition in the spirit of NCAA Division III athletics or during class in one of our more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree opportunities, our students' successes serve as testimony to our College's ability, as Long Island's only four-year public liberal arts and sciences college, to help the leaders of tomorrow realize their dreams. It is my wish that all who participate in this event do so in a spirit of healthy competition. Moreover, I hope the SUNY College at Old Westbury community gives you a reason to visit us again. Thank you for attending. Sincerely, Dr. Calvin O. Butts III President State University of New York, College at Old Westbury

Greetings From the Athletic Director... Greetings... Welcome to this overview of the SUNY College at Old Westbury Department of Athletics! We are a 12-team athletic program that competes on the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Skyline Conference. We are proud of our 12 athletic teams, their competent and inspiring coaches and the more than 200 student-athletes who make up the proud athletic community of our college. The experience of a student-athlete is a unique one and we ensure that our student-athletes receive every possible benefit of this experience. The life of a student-athlete includes working with their coaches and their team to achieve the strongest athletic performance and highest standard of excellence possible in their sport. Along the way, our student-athletes hone their athletic skills and learn leadership skills, learn discipline and learn how to be part of a positive team. Student-athletes are students first, so keeping academics strong is always a priority whether it includes ensuring that student-athletes bring their studies to away games and/or connecting student-athletes with the best academic adviser or the best tutor for them. Our student-athletes graduate with much to show for their time at Old Westbury. They will have excelled academically and athletically and they will have developed many valuable skills in leadership, time management, self-discipline and teamwork that makes them very marketable candidates in their chosen fields. Our goal is to win Skyline Conference and national championships in every sport. Our track record for participation in Skyline Conference and ECAC post-season competition is strong and gets stronger every season. We work hard to achieve the best in each sport while ensuring that we exhibit the strongest sportsmanship ethic possible. We hope you will join the strong and excelling athletic community in the Department of Athletics at SUNY College at Old Westbury!! Yours in sport, ML Langlie, Ph.D. Interim Athletic Director Vice President for Student Affairs State University of New York, College at Old Westbury

2010 Men’s Soccer Media Guide
Season Outlook One year after reaching the Skyline Conference finals for the second time in three seasons in 2009, the Old Westbury men’s soccer team faces the challenge of fielding its deepest and youngest team under the direction of sixth year head coach Jason Warshaw. The Panthers return 13 of 27 players from last season and brought in a group of 15 freshman and two transfers. Despite the roster turnover, Warshaw is optimistic at the start of preseason. This year Old Westbury has seven upperclassmen and 23 underclassmen, so although it looks to be somewhat young, the Panthers have some maturity in some of the players who are coming back. Among the 13 returning players are six starters as well as a group of players ready to step into more prominent roles. Warshaw has high expectations for Old Westbury, despite a third place showing in the 2010 Skyline Conference coaches preseason poll. Warshaw said “The squad in 2010 doesn’t list any current All-Skyline selections, but we will reveal a true team effort.” Clearly put, he said. “We now have “athleticism, depth and options.” The team has a common goal in 2010 - To be the best team they can be, not the best individual. GOALKEEPERS Senior Darian Bryan returns for his final season at Old Westbury. He is coming off a 7-2 season in 2009 and has a career mark of 16-10 with three shutouts and a 1.78 goals against average. Bryan is the lone remaining member of the 2007 Skyline Conference Championship team. While he is primed to conclude his collegiate career in style, it is his continued increase in leadership between that pipes that will guide the Panthers. Sophomore Pablo Diaz, who transferred from Suffolk Community College, is the newcomer this season. BACKS In addition to Bryan, the Panthers will have plenty of veteran leadership in the backfield. Seniors Victor Farfan and Scott Madocks enter their second year with Old Westbury while sophomore captain Brian Hanley started in 20 of 21 matches as a freshman. Sophomores Anthony Cardenia and Ernesto Navarrete along with the newcomers, freshmen Michael Bayne, Scott Carey and Steven Greene will all add depth and talent in the backfield. MIDFIELDERS Old Westbury has a blend of experience and youth in the midfield this season. Seniors Andrew Holder and Ugur Kahveci were the only Panthers to appear in all 22 matches last season. Junior captain German Parodis knocked in three goals last season and could increase his scoring load this season. Joseph Zorbo and fellow sophomore Omer Brown are the other two returnees. Junior Oraine Pringle, a transfer from Mohawk Valley Community College, is the fastest player on the team and is capable of playing up front or in the midfield.

Season Outlook Anthony Ippolito, Thomas Manz and Diego Mercado will be impact freshmen and are projected to start in the season opener against the York Cardinals (Sept. 1). Sophomore transfer Jeffry Bolivar, from LIU-C.W. Post, and freshmen Bryan Bolivar, Anthony Echevarria, Christopher Martelli and Joseph Martinez will all be in the mix for playing time. FORWARDS Despite losing two-time Skyline Conference Player of the Year Fabian Santibanez, the forwards will be a more talented group. Sophomore Donny Alerte will be asked to fill some of the void left by Santibanez. Alerte is the top returning scorer after netting five goals in 13 matches last season. Sophomore Steven Burgos appeared in seven games as a freshman and is the other returnee. Freshman Christopher Barbosa stood out the most in preseason to earn a starting spot along side Alerte. Barbosa has the potential to be a target player. They will both team up to form an aggressive air show along with creating opportunities for others to score. Freshmen Hansel Riddock, Christian Montanez and Donald Stock are the other top newcomers and add depth to a group that will pressure the ball. SCHEDULE Old Westbury opens the season at home against York (Sept. 1). Following non-conference battles at the Drew Tournament, the Panthers take on a non-conference slate at Vassar (Sept. 8), FDU-Florham (Sept. 11), Ramapo (Sept. 15) and Stevens (Oct. 27) as well as home games against King’s (Sept. 19), Kean (Oct. 8), City Tech (Oct. 18) and Stevens (Oct. 27). In Skyline Conference play, Old Westbury hosts Mount Saint Vincent on Sept. 23. Other home games come against defending champion St. Joseph’s-L.I. (Sept. 25) in addition to Sage (Oct. 2), Bard (Oct. 16) and Farmingdale State (Oct. 21). On the road, the Panthers head to Mount Saint Mary (Sept. 18), NYU-Poly (Sept. 29), Maritime (Oct. 5), Yeshiva (Oct. 14) and Purchase (Oct. 23).

Warshaw has been at Old Westbury since 2003. He was hired as an assistant 42-45-5 .484 coach for 2003 and 2004. Since taking the head coaching reigns in 2005, he Overall has put Old Westbury on the map. He has gone on to mold the Panthers into winners that compete for championships. Over the past three seasons, Old Westbury has appeared in two Skyline Conference Championship games. Prior to Old Westbury, Warshaw spent one season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, SUNY University at Albany, where he played four seasons of Great Dane soccer. In 2007, Warshaw led the Panthers to the programs first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament after capturing their first Skyline Conference title. For his effort, Warshaw was named Skyline Conference Coach of the Year due in part to preparing five AllSkyline Conference selections, including Justin Leakey, who was named Skyline Championship MVP. Under his leadership, he has coached nine individual All-Skyline Conference selections. Included in that group are Conor McKeon (Second Team 2009), Timothy Munzing (First Team 2008), Justin Leakey (First Team 2008, Second Team 2007), John Senatore (First Team 2007, Second Team 2008), Kimron Annikie (First Team 2007), Alexnader Renwart (First Team 2007) and Sandro Charlitti (Second Team 2007). In 2008 and 2009, Warshaw coached two-time Skyline Conference Player of the Year Fabian Santibanez, who was named Skyline Conference Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009. Warshaw currently resides in Central Islip, New York with his wife and three children.
JOE DILIBERTI Assistant Coach Third Season
Joe Diliberti begins his third season as an assistant coach for the Old Westbury men’s soccer program. Diliberti’s responsibilities span all areas of the program, including recruiting, practice coordination and game preparation. He helped deliver the 17 newcomers to campus as part of the 2010 recruiting class. In just his second season at Old Westbury, the Panthers advanced to the Skyline Conference Tournament Championship match in 2009. Before joining the Old Westbury staff, Diliberti spent 14 years coaching and training at Intense Soccer Academy (ISA) on Long Island. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Diliberti is a Sales Manager for Lyons Mortgage Services, Inc. in Astoria, New York. A native of Commack, New York, Diliberti played two years for Farmingdale State in 1995 and 1996. Diliberti is a graduate of Commack High School and currently resides in Lake Grove, New York.
