Special Gift Offerings
Several years ago the members of First Lutheran Church resolved to designate the non-Sunday offerings, such as Lenten and Advent services, to be given to organizations whose work is important to fulfilling the mission of our Church and also honors Jesus’ instructions to care for those in need. At the September Voters’ Meeting, the Voters selected the following organizations or groups to receive the funds raised during the Fiscal Year 2016-17. The gifts you donate on Thanksgiving, each Wednesday during Advent, and on Christmas Day will be given to the following groups: LCMS World Relief and Human Care – World disaster relief with spiritual encouragement. Lutheran Social Services - Lutheran counseling and adoption services for the State of Montana. Lutherans for Life - National Lutheran pro-life organization of which we have a local chapter. Kids Kingdom – First Lutheran’s Mission in Ensenada, Mexico – a Christian Orphanage in Mexico offering a truly family experience for the children. CareNet - Local crisis/caring pregnancy center. First Lutheran Youth/High School Group – Funds to be used for a local Youth Mission to be selected by the youth and implemented in 2018-19. Union Gospel Mission of Missoula – Local Christian homeless shelter providing meals and respite and the Word of God. Montana Indian Ministry - A Montana District LCMS mission field on the Montana Indian Lame Deer and Crow reservations. Our gifts help support the work of Pastor Jacobs and Pastor Bauer. LCMS Armed Forces Ministry - LCMS national ministry to our members in the Armed Forces. Habitat of Missoula – Ecumenical Christian based housing ministry dedicated to the elimination of poverty in our community and throughout the world.
