Textured Blender – Purple 23078 LV – (binding) • Cut 8 strips @ 2½" x WOF; join the strips using diagonal seams Backing • 5¼ yards Hour Glass Block Border: 1. Join the Blue and Green Dark Calico Unit D triangles with the Grey and Yellow Textured Blender Unit D triangles as shown below. Press the seams toward the Textured Blender triangles. Trim the unit to measure 5½" square. Make 10 Hour glass blocks.

Medium Calico – Rose 23074 D – FQ Medium Calico – Green 23074 G – FQ Medium Calico – Brown 23074 T – FQ Medium Calico – Purple 23074 V – FQ Medium Calico – Blue 23074 W – FQ From each fabric listed above cut; WOF cutting; • Cut 2 strips @ 3¼" x WOF; sub cut 16 @ 3¼" x 3¼", divide each in half once diagonally, 32 triangles; Unit B • Cut 1 strip @ 2¾" x WOF; sub cut 14 @ 2¾" x 2¾"; Unit A, cut 2 @ 2¾" x 2¾" from left over 3¼" strip for a total of 16 units. **Optional FQ cutting: • Cut 3 strips @ 3¼" x 20"; sub cut 16 @ 3¼" x 3¼", divide each in half once diagonally, 32 triangles; Unit B • Cut 2 strips @ 2¾" x 20"; sub cut 14 @ 2¾" x 2¾"; Unit A, cut 2 @ 2¾" x 2 ¾" from left over fabric for a total of 16 units

2. Join the Brown and Red Dark Calico Unit D triangles with the Grey and Yellow Textured Blender Unit D triangles as shown below. Press the seams towards the Calico triangles. Trim the unit to measure 5 ½” square. Make 10 Hour glass blocks.

Traditional Quilt 3. Using 5 Hour Glass blocks from each color combination, join the blocks to form the border as shown below. Alternate the blocks while rotating every other block so that the yellow triangle is alternately at the top or bottom of the row. Set the border aside.

4. Join one of each two patch unit as shown below. Make sure that the units are rotated correctly. Press the seam to one side. Repeat to make 4 four-patch units.

4. Join the remaining Hour Glass blocks from each color combination to form the border as shown below. Alternate the blocks while rotating every other block so that the yellow triangle is alternately at the top or bottom of the row. Set the border aside. 5. Join 2 four-patch units to opposite sides of a Yellow Light Calico Unit C rectangle. Press the seams towards the Yellow Light Calico rectangle. Repeat to make 2 rows.

EZ Quilt Block: 1. Join a Green Medium Calico and a Cream Textured Blender Unit B Triangle to make a Half Square Triangle unit (HST) as shown below. Press the seam to the dark side. Trim the HST unit to 2¾" square. Repeat to make 8 HST units.

6. Sew 2 Yellow Light Calico Unit C rectangles to opposite sides of a Cream Textured Blender Unit A Square. Press the seams towards the Yellow Light Calico rectangle.

2. Join a HST unit to a Cream Textured Blender Unit A Square as shown below. Make sure that the units are rotated correctly. Press the seam towards the square. Repeat to make 4 two-patch units.

7. Join the rows as shown below to make the block. Press the seams in one direction. Repeat steps 1 through 7 to make 4 blocks total. Blocks should measure 11¾" including ¼" seam allowance.

3. Join a HST unit to a Green Medium Calico Unit A Square as shown below. Make sure that the units are rotated correctly. Press the seam towards the square. Repeat to make 4 two-patch units.

Traditional Quilt 8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 to make 4 blocks total for each color. Blocks should measure 11¾" including ¼" seam allowance.

Adding the borders: Estimated border length appears in italics within the parenthesis Joining the Rows:

1. Measure the length of the top through the center of the quilt. Cut 2 strips from the Cream Textured Blender 3” wide strip at this length (3" x 56¾"). Sew these to the long sides of the quilt top. Border 1

1. Join the blocks to form rows as shown below. Rotate the blocks so that the seams interlock. Make 4 rows total. Press the seams in alternating directions so that the seams interlock when you join the rows.

2. Measure the width of the top through the center of the quilt. Cut 2 strips from the Cream Textured Blender 3" wide strip at this length (3" x 50½"). Sew these to the top and bottom (short sides) of the quilt top. Border 1

Traditional Quilt 3. Measure the width of the top through the center of the quilt. Cut 2 strips from the Purple Textured Blender 1½" wide strip at this length. (1½" x 50½"). Sew these to the top and bottom (short sides) of the quilt top. Border 2

5. Measure the length of the top through the center of the quilt. Cut 2 strips from the Purple Textured Blender 1½" wide strip at this length (1½" x 73¾"). Sew these to the long sides of the quilt top. Border 3 6. Measure the width of the top through the center of the quilt. Cut 2 strips from the Purple Textured Blender 1½" wide strip at this length (1½" x 52½"). Sew these to the top and bottom (short sides) of the quilt top. Border 3 7. Measure the length of the top through the center of the quilt. Cut 2 strips from the Purple Dark Calico 6" wide strip at this length (6" x 75¾"). Sew these to the long sides of the quilt top. Border 4 8. Measure the width of the top through the center of the quilt. Cut 2 strips from the Purple Dark Calico 6” wide strip at this length (6" x 63½"). Sew these to the top and bottom (short sides) of the quilt top. Border 4 Finishing the Quilt: 1. To make the backing cut 2 lengths @ 2⅝ yards. Join the 2 lengths together along the selvage using a 1” seam. Trim the seam to ½" and press to one side. Trim the backing to 74" x 95"

4. Sew the Hour Glass borders to the top and bottom of the quilt as shown below.

2. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing together. Quilt as desired and bind with the long 2½" wide Purple Textured Blender.
