PHS Wins 8 Events at District UIL Meet By Tim Taylor

The top 3 individuals in each event along with the winning teams in the team events advance to the Region 24A championships April 23-25 at Texas A&M-Commerce. Paris qualified 13 individuals along with the accounting, calculator applications, and spelling and vocabulary teams for regionals. North Lamar won the district meet with 502 points followed by Atlanta 390 and Paris 285. Paris event winners were senior Arish Pardiwalla (accounting), sophomore Chelsea Savage (calculator), senior Michael Montgomery (computer science), sophomore Shelby Wilson (ready writing), and junior Shikha Prakash (who led a 1-2-3 sweep in spelling and vocabulary). Paris senior Wendell Johnson competed in 4 academic events and brought home what is believed to be a school record 7 district medals.
