Prince Albert Raiders Game Notes RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders were handed a 7-1 loss by the Moose Jaw Warriors last night at the Art Hauser Centre. The Warriors took the early lead on a first period powerplay, and added another three in the second period. 18-year-old captain Josh Morrissey got the Raiders on the board late in the middle stanza, but Moose Jaw added another trio of goals in the third period to walk away with the win. 20-year-old goaltender Cole Cheveldave surrendered 3 goals on 11 shots before being replaced midway through the game by 16-year-old Nick McBride, who stopped 14 of 18 attempts. VS THE TIGERS: The Raiders have been bitten by the Tigers this season, going winless in all three matches so far. 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl leads the Raiders offence with 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points. 19-year-old winger Dakota Conroy has a team leading plus-4, and has a pair of goals, along with 17-year-old forward Reid Gardiner. 20-year-old goaltender Cole Cheveldave is 0-2-0-0 against Medicine Hat, with a 3.08 goals against average and .923 save percentage. FIRST HAT TRICK: 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl recorded his first career hat trick on Tuesday night with his 3-goal, 1-assist effort. The import has recorded an “assist hat trick” three times in his WHL career. BLUELINE BLASTING: 18-year-old defensemen Josh Morrissey has taken over the goal scoring lead by defenceman on the WHL this season, with 18 goals. Morrissey’s 18 goals this season are tied for 3rd by a defenceman in one campaign in Raiders history. He has tied Dave VanDrunen’s season best of 18 and is one behind Mark Adelan’s total of 19. Emanuel Viveiros hold the record with 22 in 1985-1986. The Raiders captain is also second among WHL defencemen in points-per-game, averaging 1.23. A CLOSE RACE: 17-year-old forward Reid Gardiner and 19-year-old right-winger Dakota Conroy have 20 goals apiece, two behind 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl’s team leading 22. 18-year-old defenceman Josh Morrissey is close behind with 18. RAIDERS RANKED: 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl has been ranked 2nd among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting Service’s recent Midterm rankings for the 2014 NHL Draft, making him the highest ranked player in the WHL. 17-year-old forward Reid Gardiner holds down the 40th spot on the list, the 11th highest player in the WHL. KEEPING IT CLEAN: The Raiders are the third least penalized team in the WHL, with just 613penalty minutes this season. The team is also tied for the second least fighting majors in the WHL this season, with 34. MILESTONES: 19-year-old centre Jayden Hart is 4 points away from 100 in his career. 18-year-old defenceman Josh Morrissey has surpassed his previous season high 47 points in 31 less games. 19-year-old forward Dakota Conroy is one goal from tying his previous career high of 21. 20-year-old winger Collin Valcourt is 3 games from 250 in the WHL, while 19-year-old forward Calder Brooks will play in his 125th tonight.

Medicine Hat Tigers Game Notes VS PRINCE ALBERT: This is the fourth and final meeting this season between the Tigers and Raiders. Medicine Hat has posted a 3-0-0-0 record versus the Raiders (2-0-0-0 at home and 1-0-0-0 in Prince Albert). Trevor Cox (1G,6A) leads the Tigers with seven points in the series. Marek Langhamer (1-0-0-0) and former Tiger Daniel Wapple (2-0-0-0) both saw action in net against the Raiders. Langhamer allowed a single goal against (1.00 GAA) on 22 shots (.955 Save %) in his start and Wapple allowed six goals against (3.00 GAA) on 72 shots (.917 Save %) in a pair of starts. VS EAST DIVISION: The Tigers have posted a 15-3-1-0 record so far this season versus East Division opponents.
LAST GAME: The Tigers stayed perfect on their current road trip with a 5-2 win against the Saskatoon Blades. Chad Labelle, Cole Sanford, Anthony Ast, Dylan Bredo and Markus Eisenschmid all scored for the Tigers. Bredo (1G,2A) also led the team with three points in the win. Nick Schneider had a great game between the pipes for the Tigers. He picked up his second win as a Tigers allowing two goals against on 20 shots. The Tigers went 1 for 4 on the power play and 3 for 5 on the penalty kill.
MILESTONES: Dylan Bredo, Trevor Cox, Anthony Ast and Tyler Lewington are all quickly approaching some major milestones in their WHL careers. Bredo has consistently put up solid assist totals throughout his time with the Tigers and is now only two away from 100 in his career. Cox has set a career high for goals this season and is now only six away from 50. Ast has been a great addition to the Tigers since his arrival at the trade deadline. He has been a factor on the stats sheet and is now only three points away from the 50 point plateau. Lewington has been having a great season having already set a career high in goals. In addition to his increased scoring he has continued to rack up the assists and is now only five assists away from 50 in his career.
STREAKS: Curtis Valk has been playing his best hockey of the season lately. His goal streak of eight games came to an end recently but he has stretched his point streak to 13 games. Over the streak he’s scored 11 times and added eight assists for 19 points. Linemate Cole Sanford has also began a new points streak that currently sits at three games. Over the streak he’s scored twice and added three assists for five points. SPECIAL TEAMS: POWER PLAY: 45 – 237 – 19.0% - 19th PENALTY KILL: 150 – 185 – 81.1% - 9th
