Principal Notes…April 21, 2017
Teacher Requests for 2017-18 School Year o Parents interested in having their children evaluated for possible placement in the high ability program will need to pick up a high ability recommendation form in the Mac El office. These forms will be available until April 14th. o Parents, who would like to write a letter regarding next year's classroom placement, may submit those letters to Mrs. McPike anytime between April 3rd and April 14th. Letters should include information about your child including their strengths and areas of challenge. Please do not include a specific teacher name in your request. Your letter will be reviewed and your child will be placed with the teacher who can best meet the needs of your child. Letters can be mailed, emailed to Mrs. McPike, or dropped off at the school office. Fairy Tale Literacy Night o April 27th from 5:30-7:30 at Maconaquah Elementary. Mac EL Fun Run o April 28th from 6-7PM at Maconaquah Elementary. Notes From the Cafeteria o Parents – Please remember to keep your child’s lunch account up to date with payment. Currently we have several students that have negative balances on their lunch accounts. Nurse’s Note o Parents: Immunization changes for 2017-2018 school year. o It will be required by the Indiana State Department of Health, for ALL STUDENTS in K-3rd grade to have 2 Hepatitis A vaccines. o It will be recommended for all other grade levels to have 2 doses also. o If your child does not have these, please make arrangements to have this taken care of prior to the August 1, 2017 Parent Access to Skyward o Parents will receive directions at parent teacher conferences on how to access their child's grades through Skyward, our new online student management system. Beginning with the 2nd nine weeks, parents will be able to access Skyward and check their child's grades online.
Please note that Mac El teachers are required to update grades at least every two weeks in the online gradebook. Mac El is now on Twitter! Follow us @Macelbraves. There is additional information on how to create a twitter account. If you do not want a Twitter account, you can still get the information and tweets via text messages to your phone by texting 40404 and sending follow @Macelbraves.
