Prismatic Star A Judy Niemeyer Paper Piecing Quilt Pattern 64” x 64” Supply List

This is a one-day class designed to teach you the simplicity of foundation paper piecing. You will need to purchase a copy of the pattern, shown above. Suitable for beginners to advanced quilters. Fabric Selection:  48 2-1/2” strips sorted into 6 groups of 8 strips which are sorted from light to dark. You may purchase Judy Niemeyer Bali Pops which are 48 strips of beautiful Hoffman batiks which Judy has already arranged into six groups of eight strips pre-sorted from light to dark in each group. www.quiltworx.com shows many other color arrangements to give you other ideas for your fabric selections.  Background fabric 2 yards  Binding 5/8 yard  Accent fabric 1-1/8 yard; the quilt in the middle uses the same fabric as the backing which makes the diamonds appear to ‘float’. The quilt on the right uses black accents which gives the look of stained glass Pre-work before class:  Read the pattern once or twice to familiarize yourself with Judy’s terms.  Cut out the Template sheet which is either labeled TP186 or TP173, depending on when your pattern was issued.  If you are not using the 48-strip Judy Niemeyer Bali Pops, please have your 48 strips arranged into six groups of eight strips sorted light to dark  It is not necessary to pre- cut out the 6 pages of foundation papers labeled NP316 or NP324. Gretchen will demonstrate the method to arrange your strips that will allow you to chain piece all of the foundation papers. If you have already cut out these papers, no worries.

 If you are familiar with ‘Judy’ patterns you may skip to page 7 “Cutting Bag 7 Black Accent Strips” and cut out the strips. Note: Be sure to do Step 3, which shows cutting on the dotted line around the strips so that you are cutting the shaped ‘smart’ corners around each strip. I actually cut straight across on the dotted lines on the top and bottom instead of the solid line, to save me a cutting step. That’s it!! Come prepared to have fun learning how Judy has designed ‘smart corners’ and strip piecing the Lone Star units to make assembling this quilt in record time. I had so much fun making these quilts, I’ll be making more. I can’t wait to spend time with you on this. General Sewing Supplies- nothing optional, unless noted: o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o
