Opening We reviewed and corrected typos in the minutes. We approved the minutes. We moved the November meeting to Thursday 11/30/17. II. Ms. Figuera We just finished the first round of the F&P assessments. Math is still being administered in K-2. The paraprofessionals are assisting inputting data online into spreadsheets that will provide a more comprehensive look. Upper grades students are taking the performance series on computer. The DL teachers are currently doing F&P in Spanish. Data meetings continue on Monday afternoons and teachers’ double periods. Lux is from the Comfort Dog program. He has a schedule in place. There are new NYC instructional items observed in areas such as knowledge of content of pedagogy, managing student behavior, growing and developing professionally, etc. III. Mr. Basta: On 10/17/17 the SLT training took place and it was facilitated by Superintendent Atschul. We were represented by 5 of our members. The training touched upon roles and responsibilities; we reviewed various chancellor’s regulations and took quizzes. IV. Dr. Russo: Late student arrival procedure…we are trying to tighten up attendance to get to at least 94% attendance. The teachers have been directed to talk to parents to stress punctuality. Birthday parties are now held the last Friday of the month in the cafeteria for kids who have birthdays in that month.

The Parent Handbook has been disseminated. Teachers should read it too for overall understanding. We are finalizing the parent pickup rosters. We have tightened up the P/K dismissal procedures. Ms. Mack is the morning greeter to the families and she watches the strollers. Dr. Russo talked about the new school app. Parents can get messages from specific teachers. You can change the settings for various languages. About 250-300 people have downloaded the app. For responses to intervention, Ms. Bibergal is putting systems in place so that when we have exhausted classroom attempts to help children, we can take appropriate steps. We had 250 parents attend for Meet the Staff Night. Take Your Dad to Work Day was very successful! We raised about $6,000.00 so far through the Meadow Farms fundraiser. Although we are fundraising, we do not get $6,000.00. We only get 40% of what we raised. Most of our fundraising has stemmed from the shows. We could have a fundraiser twice a year. We could try many different fundraisers. We can donate money to the PS 145 general school fund. We are automatically a tax-exempt program. The Comfort Dog Program is a big success. Lux makes people happy. On 11/1/17 Dr. Russo and Ms. Johnson are going to Tweed for a kickoff for the principals and teachers. The ELA performance task is approaching for Kindergarten. Individual student logs will be shared with parents on Parent Teacher Night on 11/16/17; it is a half-day of school for children. Newsletters are going out next week. On 10/27/17 the Pre-K will have the annual Harvest Parade. On 10/31/17 we will have a costume parade. The next WITS lab is based on Kale. The theme for the November Spirit Day is Pajamas. The CEP goals are a blueprint of what the school is doing. Goals for this year:
Goal 1: There was no progress in Special Ed. Not one student was on grade level. They were all far below. Almost all schools in Special Ed had at least 20-25% at grade level. In grades 3-5: The ELA curriculum maps have been updated to include mods for students with disabilities. The goal is for this to result in a 5% increase in ELA exam scores. Goal 2: By June 2018, student infractions will decrease by 30%. By January 31 2018, we are aiming for 12 or less infractions (running out, fights). Goal 3: All teachers will have a 5% score increase in the Danielson component 3D teacher assessment. Goal 4: By June 2018, all teachers will be creating differentiated instructional tasks, resulting in a 5% increase in Danielson component 3C.

Goal 5: By June 2018, the school environment survey will show parents feeling welcome to visit classroom with an 85% parent participation goal. For example, math gallery walks and publishing parties. We will send flyers, app notices, and invitations for parents. At the February SLT meeting we will have an update on CEP goals. V. Ms. Nieves: Olga is the new PA Secretary. The PA is relocating to the 2nd floor to room 207 to provide all day access to get things done. Bake sales and Box Tops are still going on. Box Tops goes to the school funds. The deadline is 11/1/17 for 1st submission. Picture Day is on 11/21/17. The Spooktacular Bake Sale is next week; Rice Krispies Treats sell well. The Holiday Bash for grades 3,4,5 will be on December 8th from 2:30-5:30. Dial a teacher is still in existence. A donor approached Jessie the day before the first day of school. He’s willing to donate to the PA and help us become a 501C Not for Profit pro bono. The guidelines are being written in English, Spanish and Russian. The donations for hurricane relief are due tomorrow. VI. Mr. Luongo: The SLT Poster was presented and approved by the team. Lux is now on Instagram and Twitter. VII. Ms. Lorenzi: She explained that we vote on consensus rules. If visitors come, they cannot speak. Only the team can speak. If we have to vote on something , the visitor has to step out.
