We just had our winter show and it was a success. A letter was sent out regarding the shelter-in. The staff kept moving and it was still a joyful atmosphere. We had $3,000.00 in ticket sales. Regarding curriculum mapping, maybe in January we could add resources for parents. Mapping is done on grade levels. We are also looking into sending home a monthly message about something the teachers are doing in the classroom that the parents could echo at home.

Round 2 of Fountas and Pinnell is completed; Kindergarten did it too. We just finished the 2nd round of Go Math! to mirror F&P. We collect the data and input it online for parent teacher conferences. The attendance for the parent workshops is low. We are working on ideas to improve this. Arlene Ludwig supports our Special Ed teachers. She helps them plan and modify instruction for students with IEPs. Dorothy Sanabria (also from the Manhattan Support Center) comes in to help teachers who are more grounded in math to elevate them. Russ Gonzalez will train a fifth grade teacher and that teacher will become a lab site. When we are doing Number Talks, we try to get the kids to talk a lot about what they are learning.

We do the same for Teachers College Writers Workshop. We always turn and talk. The Leader in Me book club has begun. It is just like our school; our struggle. It provides a sense of excitement because they wanted to make the children take ownership of the school. High scores came through because all types of students were able to take part in the school community. Our goal is to get us all in the stage of helping each other so we can all be on the same page; we have to be role models for the children. We want to teach students to be self-motivating.
Ms. Lorenzi:
The YMCA needs training from Nakia for drills, i.e. shelter drills. Nakia can train them on it. For example, in a shelter in drill, there is danger outside, so no one comes into the building and no one goes out. In a lock down there is danger in the building, doors are locked. We hide because there may be an assailant in the building. Progress Monitoring: We meet during our data time. We set specific goals for the grades, not individual classes. What is our target and what strategies can we use to get there? Strategic Groupings: On those sheets, we look at our groupings and we further break them up and target them with different skills. The curriculum mapping team's next meeting is 1/20/18; revisions will take place. Ms. Lorenzi showed the parents a screenshot of the map; i.e. the writing unit. Dr. Russo and Ms. Lorenzi explained the differentiation strategies on the maps. Ms. Lorenzi explained what Mady and John do. Word Gen is coming to 4th and 5th grades. The program targets vocabulary strategies. The trainer will be sent from the Manhattan Support Center. We asked that Tom be included.

We are a "certified inc." as of 11/3/17. We have an assigned not-for-profit number. We're planning on forming committees for events, grants, fundraising and more.
VII. Ms. Figuera For the Holiday Spectacular, the local community was involved in helping all of the kids, even the YMCA. It ran smoothly. The Olive Garden provided the food. Carlos Candazaro sent it. Grades K-5 are still meeting to get student data. F &P assessments are still going on. Miss Andrea visited us from the Office of Safety for Students to teach students what they need to do in different scenarios. The school consultation committee has met. Our next SLT meeting is January 18, 2018.
