QUILTERS’ CORNER NEWSLETTER SUMMER 2011 9792 B BUSINESS PARK DRIVE, SACRAMENTO, CA 95827

916-366-6136 website:quilterscornersac.com.

Summer is finally here! We went from winter storms straight to summer. It’s not too early to get started on those holiday gifts and this year you might even have time for a Halloween project or two. Our first two Halloween collections, Alexander Henry’s “Haunted House and Clothworks’ “Scribble Monster II”, are here and both have wonderful project sheets. Hold on to your sunscreen, even some Christmas fabrics have snuck in our doors….Jason Yenter’s “Winter Solstice”, Moda’s “Elegance”, and “Christmas Spirit”! Lots of fun events are happening at the shop. We have three Lake Tahoe camps coming up this summer and an Auburn retreat in October. This is a good chance to get some UFO’s finished for holiday gifts or just for you. There are new classes coming up with exciting new projects. Come in and “MEET THE TEACHERS” on Sunday, July 3rd from noon to 4pm. Grab some goodies and see the samples of new and exciting classes. We are participating in the QUILTS OF VALOR-Under Our Wings Program. Monthly, we will designate a National Service Day, when you can come and make a quilt for a veteran touched by war. We will have kits you can purchase, patterns and a coach to help you. Check our calendar for dates. If you are interested in becoming a coach, please contact Elaine. We have a new HAND QUILTING CLUB taught by Esther Latino. She will show you the latest information about needles, thread, thimbles and hand quilting techniques each meeting. The first meeting is Sunday, August 7th, noon4pm. Something new for all of you (and us), we will be doing a bus trip to the Pacific International Quilt Festival on Saturday, October 15th. We have a limited number of seats so sign up soon for a really fun filled day. If you haven’t seen the show before, it is fantastic and, just think, you don’t have to do the driving! We are excited to announce we will be the local dealer for Handi Quilter’s Sweet 16 tabletop quilting machine.. Look for Sweet 16 to be on Quilters’ Corner’s floor by mid-July. This machine is the perfect fit for a quilter who wants to quilt his/her own quilts with wonderful results. You will not need a separate room just for the machine, but maybe for all the new quilts you convert from the stacks and stacks of unfinished tops we all have. Mark your calendars for Jodi Barrows’ Trunk Show on Sunday, July 31. Jodi is a nationally known quilting teacher who has a unique piecing method called “Square in a Square.” She will be demonstrating her great piecing techniques and her new Pony Express fabric line. As you all know, this year is the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express and Sacramento was the end of the line for that wonderfully unique piece of Americana. Jodi has a sampler book that has historical information about the adventure as well as a quilt pattern. Speaking of anniversaries, 2011 is our 10th ANNIVERSARY! Yes, believe it or not, we have made it through ten years, so we would like to have a CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY on August 20th 10am-4pm to honor those customers who have kept us open all these years. We will be having 20% off all fabrics all day, one day only. We hope you can attend. As usual, we have tons of new fabrics, notions and patterns coming in every day; too many to mention. Our 1800’s section is expanding everyday and the batiks are out of control. The baby and novelty sections are exploding and Thimbleberries has outgrown the corner. We have fantastic new basics and as usual, our 50% off benches are full. Most importantly, our highly trained staff is anxious to help you with any and everything. They can help you choose fabrics, find the perfect border, back or binding and calculate how much you need of what! Please come in and see us soon…….. Elaine, Dawn, Pam, Pat, Carol, Nicole, Jeanette, Patty, Debbie, Sandy, Diane, Ellen, Lindsay, Donna and Peggy
