QUILTERS’ CORNER NEWSLETTER SPRING 2011 9792 B BUSINESS PARK DRIVE, SACRAMENTO, CA 95827 916-366-6136 website:quilterscornersac.com.

Spring has sprung once again and all the trees are in bloom and so are the fabrics. We receive boxes everyday, so there is always something new and exciting. Come see us soon and be sure not to forget MEET THE TEACHERS on Sunday, April 3rd, from NOON to 4:00 P.M. Bring a friend, check out a class sample, and enjoy good treats and conversation with other quilt lovers. It’s coming! Get ready! QUILT RUSH will be April 13 through the 17th. We will have extended hours: 9AM-7PM on Wednesday through Saturday, and Sunday 11AM-4PM. Of course, as usual there will be prizes for doing all the stores and wonderful opportunities and new ideas at each. The Auburn Retreat, at the beautiful Mercy Retreat Center, in March was a success, we will be going again October 7-9th . Come relax and get some major sewing done while enjoying the tranquility of the grounds. Do not forget our Lake Tahoe Retreats. Nicole and Pam’s September 11-16th UFO camp is full, Carol & Pat’s September 25-30 UFO camp has some openings. Pearl Pereria will be there June 12-17th. She is the world’s expert on starch method applique. If you always disliked applique before, you will love her method. A sample of the piece we will be doing is in the store. Jill Schumacher will also be in Tahoe September 11-17th. If you have never learned how to quilt, she guarantees you will be proficient after five days with her. We are having a sew-in day for our MILLION PILLOWCASE CHALLENGE on June 11th between 12-4 p.m. So far we have collected and distributed 300+ cases to various charitable organizations, such as Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento. Congratulations to all of you who have participated so far and many thanks from Quilters’ Corner. On to the most important subject: FABRICS! We just received Moda’s Collections for a Cause, “FAITH”. The fabrics are REPRODUCTIONS from the Howard Marcus Collection 1840-1860. It is mostly pink and browns but has some wonderful reds also. Last, but not least, we will be getting “Civil War Reunion” perfect for reproducing those Civil War Quilts. From Fabric-Quilt, we will be receiving “SAVANNAH”. It’s somewhat Jacobean in style including large florals, basket prints wavy stripes and wonderful tone on tones. In May, we have a new company Anthology which is shipping us some beautiful BATIKS. For those of you who are working on “Quilts of Valor”, we have purchased a perfect line from Moda . It is appropriately called Quilts of Valor and comes with a bunting and a pattern.. Do not freak out, but Quilting Treasures is sending us our first holiday fabric called “Hair-raising Halloween” in May. There will be no excuses to not have that quilt finished before the holidays!. Also in May, we will be receiving P & B’s “Beloved Beauties” . It was designed by Elly Sienkiewicz who is back designing again. The line has a large floral, smaller florals, and lots of tone on tones in pinks and greens. From Marcus Brothers, we will be getting the entire collection from Cocheco Mills, their second collection and it is absolutely fabulous! For April, we have ordered “Sweet Sixteen” from Moda. We just had to have it; it will be perfect for a feathered star. It’s kind of soft with four large floral stripes, some smaller blossoms and some matching batiks. Speaking of soft, we have Robyn Pandolph’s latest collection from RJR. It’s called Scarborough Fair. It has soft blues, pinks and greens in her signature florals with some wonderful stripes and dots. The best part is they will go with a lot of her past collections in case you want to combine.. For you Redwork aficionados, we will be receiving and entire line called Redwork Rendezvous. It all red and whites and will be perfect for your next redwork project. From “In the Beginning”, for those of you who love working with Brights, we ordered a line called “Polka Dot Garden”. It is really fabulous bright, fun circles, stripes, florals and dots. From Lakehouse we have ordered “Annie”. It is also bright and fun with a basket theme and will also coordinate with the Doll Dress line as well as Fun Flowers which we still have. From Windham, we are receiving “Wedgewood”, the entire line. It looks exactly like it sounds, perfect for blue work or a blue and white quilt. In June we are getting more Kaffe Fassett to add to our ever expanding collection. Don’t forget batiks. We receive at least a box a week and they are multiplying rapidly. We all have an ongoing need for children’s quilts and for that purpose we have ordered Lil’ Rascals from Moda. This should be a good collection to work for either girls or boys and will come with Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes and Charm Packs in case you are in a hurry and need someone else to do the cutting for you. As always we are always ready to help you pull a quilt, choose a border, look for a back, or to help with special problems. We have the best and most proficient help in town! Elaine, Dawn, Pam, Pat, Carol, Nicole, Jeanette, Patty, Debbie, Sandy, Diane, Ellen, Lindsay, Donna and Peggy
