QUILTS & KREATIONS 2015 FALL 2015 Dear Friends, It is once again time to dust off those sewing machines and start sewing. We have a large line up of classes for you to choose from. I’m sure that we have a class that will appeal to each and every one of you. If you see a class that you are interested in but the class dates do not work for you, and you can gather 3 of your friends we will do a private class for you and your friends if possible. Quilts & Kreations held a three month celebration this summer to celebrate it’s 35th Anniversary, and what a celebration it was! We started off our celebrations in July, and customers had the opportunity to earn Quilts & Kreations Bucks that were used as entries for the 15 gift baskets and a sewing machine that were given away in our Chinese Auction. We wrapped up our celebrations on September 14. Congratulations to all of the winners. A list of all of the winners is posted in the shop. Keith and I would like to thank you for your support over the years. Without your loyalty and support our 35th anniversary would not have been possible. This was our first year participating in the Row By Row Experience this summer. This was a nationwide shop hop that lasted from the end of June to the first week in September. It was a fun experience and we met so many wonderful quilters. We had hoppers from 30 different states and Canada that visited us. The new theme for next year will be Home Sweet Home. We hope that you and your friends will plan on participating this next summer. We are offering the use of our classroom on Saturday October 31 to host a Row By Row sewing day. This is a free event. Bring in a Row By Row kit that you purchased, your sewing machine and join us for a day of sewing and fellowship. You must register if you plan on coming. This has been an exciting year for BERNINA, they have released many new machines to their line. A modern sewing machine must perform many tasks and be adaptable to the individual needs of it user, and BERNINA has many options to fit every sewer needs. You will want to stop in and see what BERNINA has to offer you. We have several machines that we are closing out at some great prices. Don’t miss the opportunity to buy a BERNINA at a great price. To kick off the Christmas season we will hold our annual Christmas Open House on Saturday November 21. All in stock merchandise will be 20% off. Select Christmas fabrics will be 30% off. It’s a great time to purchase your supplies for all the holiday gifts you will be making. We will also have a red dot table. Red dotted merchandise will be marked 40% off. You may also pick up your BERNINA Holiday Booklet at this event. I have been busy planning the bus trip that Quilts & Kreations is sponsoring to the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah, Ky. in April, 2016. If this trip has been on your bucket list, this is the year to do it. The AQS quilt show is a “must see” quilt show! Only the best entries from around the world are selected for this competition. Every quilter must attend at least one AQS Quilt Show in Paducah in their lifetime. I promise you a fun filled four days. We will be staying at the Harrah’s Hotel & Casino in Metropolis, Illinois which is across the river from Paducah. If you have already reserved your space on the trip, we will start taking deposits on Sunday October 18 at 12:00pm. You may reserve the bus seat you would like to sit in when you make your $100 deposit. All deposits must be made by November 21 to guarantee your seat. Full payment is due by February 15, 2016. You will be using raw edge appliqué to secure the fused pieces down and you will be quilting it as you go. Sunday October 18 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm Sampler $60.00 8 Classes (B) This 8 week class is our most popular class for beginners. Quilts & Kreations has offered this class for the past 35 years. You will learn all areas of quilting. You will learn how to scissor cut blocks, rotary cut blocks, hand applique, and hand quilt. When you finish this class, you will be ready to tackle most any quilt project with total confidence. From crib to king size. Monday October 19 - December 14 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Talking Turkey $28.00 3 classes BYOM (B) $8.50 pattern included Too cute is the only way to describe this 50” X 59” quilt. The quilt is adorned with six turkeys in hats and three pumpkin blocks and a checkered border. You may use homespun brushed flannel or cotton fabrics to create this darling quilt. Join Susan in this class and you will have it finished in time to hang before Thanksgiving. Tuesday October 20, 27, Nov. 3 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Harvest $28.00 3 classes BYOM (B-I) $9.00 pattern included Susan made this quilt in rich fall colored fabrics, but any color choice will do. The blocks are made using 2 1/2” strips and a background fabric. Get out your jelly rolls, or dig through your stash and cut several 2 1/2” wide strips. Suzie’s Sew Time $25.00 1 class BYOM (B) If you’re like the rest of us, you have many unfinished projects that have to be finished before the holidays. We have set up a day where you can come in, enjoy some fellowship and get some of your projects completed, or start a new holiday project. Flannel Cuddle Quilt $25.00 2 classes BYOM (B) pattern included As much as we do not want to think about it, winter is just around the corner. Nothing beats a warm cuddly flannel quilt on a cold snowy winter evening. Join Char in this class as she guides you through the construction of this 56” X 72” quilt. All Inclusive Table Runner $29.00 1 class BYOB (B) We offered a class recently that we not only provided all of the fabric and batting, but we also had everything pre-cut so all the students had to do was sit and sew everything together. It was such a hit, we are once again offering another class with the same format. Char will have everything pre cut for you to make this striking 21” X 43” table runner. The beautiful fabrics that Char chose has an Asian flare to it. All fabric for the top, back, binding and batting is include in the class fee. Saturday November 7 12:30pm-4:30pm
Row By Row Sew Free 1 class BYOM If you participated in the Row By Row Experience this summer we are offering the use of our classroom for a day to sew some of your rows together. Bring in a Row By Row kit that you purchased, your sewing machine and join us for a day of sewing and fellowship. You must register if you plan on coming. Bring a sack lunch. Saturday October 31 10:30am-4:30pm Panel Panache $28.00 2 classes BYOM (B) $9.00 Pattern included This is a big quilt made in small quilt time. What do you do with really large scaled fabric and panels? Cut them into pieces, combine with tone on tone and matching fabrics and boom, you created Panel Panache. You will want to join Char in this class to make a Denim Rag Quilt. Not only will you be cleaning out your closet, but you will be making something useful out of those old jeans. You will be making two different types of blocks, a star block and a log cabin block. Char backed the blocks with flannel fabric. Most of this project is machine pieced with a small amount of machine appliqué.
