GAME NOTES LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK: NJCU looks for its first home conference win of the season today after dropping a pair of league games in a home-and-home series this week against #3 ranked Kean University. NJCU/RAMAPO LAST MEETINGS: In 2010, Ramapo swept the season series from NJCU, winning 14-8 on April 29 in Mahwah, and 13-2 on April 2 in Jersey City. RCNJ has won the last five meetings. NJCU last knocked off the Roadrunners, 102, on April 19, 2008 in Mahwah, NJ. SO CLOSE, SO OFTEN: NJCU is 1-7 at home this season. The veteran-laden club has been snake-bitten at times. NJCU has lost seven games by two or less runs and 14 games by four or fewer runs. GONZALEZ SCORES 100: Rob Gonzalez became the fourth player in school history to score 100 career runs in a loss to Kean on April 15. MALDONADO BACK ON MOUND: On April 9, Nelson Maldonado had a brilliant performance in the Gothic Knights’ 6-1 road victory at RutgersCamden for the team’s first NJAC win of the season. Maldonado struck out a career-high eight batters and did not allow an earned run while tossing 8.0 innings Nelson Maldonado of seven-hit baseball with only one walk.
