GAME NOTES LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK: NJCU looks for its first home conference win of the season today after dropping a pair of league games in a home-and-home series this week against #3 ranked Kean University. NJCU/RAMAPO LAST MEETINGS: In 2010, Ramapo swept the season series from NJCU, winning 14-8 on April 29 in Mahwah, and 13-2 on April 2 in Jersey City. RCNJ has won the last five meetings. NJCU last knocked off the Roadrunners, 102, on April 19, 2008 in Mahwah, NJ. SO CLOSE, SO OFTEN: NJCU is 1-7 at home this season. The veteran-laden club has been snake-bitten at times. NJCU has lost seven games by two or less runs and 14 games by four or fewer runs. GONZALEZ SCORES 100: Rob Gonzalez became the fourth player in school history to score 100 career runs in a loss to Kean on April 15. GONZALEZ CLOSING IN ON FIFTH PLACE: Rob Gonzalez also enters the game sixth in school history with 153 hits after notching three against Kean. Next up is Dave Long (1987-90) with 154 hits. In fourth place is Nick Cucinello from 199093 wiht 158 hits. Michael Fiorentino ranks No. 14 with 126 career hits. MALDONADO BACK ON MOUND: On April 9, Nelson Maldonado had a brilliant performance in the Gothic Knights’ 6-1 road victory at RutgersCamden for the team’s first NJAC win of the season. Maldonado struck out a career-high eight batters and did not allow an earned run while tossing 8.0 innings Nelson Maldonado of seven-hit baseball with only one walk.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION RAMAPO RED HOT: The Roadrunners enter the doubleheader fresh off a two-day home-and-home sweep of William Paterson, winning, 9-3 in Wayne, NJ on April 14, and 5-0 yesterday. Yesterday, Travis Zilg fired a complete-game one-hitter, allowing two walks with five strikeouts. On Thursday, Kevin Knox was 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs in the leadoff spot, Dan Moreno had three RBIs and Nick DiGirolamo added two hits and two RBIs. MIDDLE INNING RUNNERS: Ramapo has scored 79 of its 176 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings this season and that note has helped contribute to the fact that RCNJ is 17-0 when leading after six innings.
