Student – Outdoor Play Facilitator Community Services (Temporary Full Time - approx. early June to the end of August)
The RDOS is seeking a dynamic individual to host self-directed, outdoor play events for children and families throughout the RDOS. Reporting to a regional recreation coordinator the summer student will be responsible for facilitating outdoor play in the region. This is a summer work experience under the Canadian Parks and Recreation Green Job and BC Healthy Communities (Plan H Grant). This position seeks to engage children and families in outdoor play, nature play, and Try-it sports days. The individual will be responsible for greeting participants, leading activities (or partnering with other agencies), ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, organizing equipment and supplies and planning outdoor play activities. QUALIFICATIONS: “student” means an employee who is attending school, college, or university who has just completed their studies or intends to return to school, college, or university in the subsequent academic year; Experience working or volunteering with children in a recreational setting; Skills in recreational leadership and physical literacy; Excellent interpersonal, communication and marketing skills; Standard First-Aid; Valid BC Drivers’ license. This position will work varied hours that include evening, weekend and daytime shifts. This position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The hourly wage for the position is $15.00 plus 14.5% in lieu of all benefits.
