RESCUE discovering how the Gospel rescues and redeems us
unit 2: The gospel rescuing me lesson 22: The Rescued Me: A New Identity
Dear Parents, Hello again! We are continuing our study through The Rescue. This week’s lesson was a really awesome time of practical discussion about living with a heavenly mindset in the midst of a world of earthly priorities. I hope your student enjoyed it. This week the lesson was entitled “The Rescued Me: A New Identity,” and it focused on helping students learn that if they have been rescued through faith in Christ, they have a new identity that is completely wrapped up in Jesus. We looked at the following Scripture passages: • Colossians 3:1-4 • Galatians 2:20 You’ll enjoy reading these passages that speak of the transformation from the old life to the new life that begins to take place when someone surrenders to Jesus as Lord and begins to seek to follow Him.
Next Steps . . .
During the next week as you have time to talk with your teenager, remember that one way that will help him or her understand and apply what he or she has learned is to explain it to someone else. Use the following questions to guide your conversation: • D oes the idea of your old life “dying” seem weird to you? Can you tell me what that means? • W hat are some things that pull your focus and attention away from setting your mind on things above? What about things our family struggles with? • W hat are some practical ways we can all fight to keep our minds set on things above? Thank you for all that you do. If you have any questions about anything, please don’t hesitate to call me.
